1951 Buick Rat Rod - will it RUN and DRIVE?

Sketch Level 10 on this episode! We take a 51 Buick Rat Rod and blow the rear tires off! But first, we've go to get this old car running again.
A 73 Camaro front clip, B Body rear frame and axle, and a 350/350 swap make this 51 Buick a riot to beat on. The 3k torque converter make for easy burnouts and donuts.

I remember a Sappy Days episode where the guys buy a great car for $175 dollars, can't fix it, something I would have done at age ten, with help from my older mechanic friends, and the shop I worked in after school, they end up letting it slide into a river, then Fonzi sells it for $ 50 to the same folks that sold it to them, real Lou Sirs. Typical Hollywood, as far as cars.

This is true, what you say, it really doesn't make sense, around here, there's some bad drivers behind the wheel, and it lets me think, the people that teach driving are just not looking around when there out with the drivers, we are not caring enough, about doing our jobs the best we can, we just want the money.

Once my alt wire fraid and came out of the plug it only had like 2 strands still hooked to the alt. When you went over 1500 rpm it sounded like a turbo, so my buddy and me done the right thing left it alone til it finally burnt up.

Love that Buick. We didn't get most of the cars you have there in the states here in Oz. We got Fairlanes and Falcons which we built here. Our local GM was Holden which were mostly unique smaller versions of Chevys. We also built Chrysler Valiants, similar to yours but with different grills and tailights. Keep up the good works.

Oh your car was wired by Lighthouse for the Blind to! My Camaro has a relatively expensive aftermarket electric fan in it from “Be Cool” and when I bought it, it was wired with a ground switch duct taped to the radiator overflow tank. I’ll be honest and say that I hate wiring, but some of the shit people do is just incredible. If you have to rig something to get out of a jam so you can get home that’s understandable, but these are not permanent fixes. I never understood how people could spend a ton of money on engines / swaps, transmissions, wheels, paint etc... yet ignore or purposely wire something to where it looks like Stevie Wonder did the job

Dang it seemed like that Buick was pretty fun to drive once you did a little maintenance to it! She burned them off pretty good for what she is! Seems like you have pretty good luck finding cool old cars! Your videos are pretty fun to watch! Thanks for posting such cool videos!
