Formula 1 returned to the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway for round 2 of the 1951 season.
The event was also part of the 1951 AAA National Championship Trail.
Just like for the first edition, none of the regular F1 European-based teams attended the race, with the field made up of 33 American drivers.
