1953 Allis Chalmers 16mm film "A New High" Showing the new Allis Chalmers WD-45 being built at the West Allis plant. Also shows off all the new features including Power Crater and Snap Coupler. And also shows off it's matching line of equipment.

Traction booster is unbeatable when properly adjusted. Same with power adjust wheels. And power crater engine. And snap coupler system. What a unit!

and don't forget the hand clutch..really handy for the youngsters learning or not able to reach the foot clutch

My Grandfather had a 1953 WD45. This was the BIG tractor on the farm. That hand clutch was the BOMB while bailing hay. Wish I could find that old girl. Would love to make her new again.

Simply amazing. The men that designed and built these tractors were true geniuses. Simple, rugged, reliable. To of been a farmer back then would have been awesome

Grew up in a farm community and knew some farmers from that era. All of them wished they had had today’s tractors. I later owned a Minneapolis Moline Z and learned why. If you weren’t a welder and a mechanic before you bought one of these tractors, you soon became one.

When I was a kid my best friend’s family farmed with a WD45 tractor and they had also an old John Deere tractor with the two cylinder “put put “ engine. 😁. My dad was a mechanic at an Allis Chalmers dealership where they also sold Chevrolet cars and trucks. I always enjoyed visiting my dad at work and sitting on the farm implements that were on display at the dealership. 😬

Growing up my neighbor had a WD and a WD45. Learned how to drive those long before I ever learned how to drive anything else lol

I love the simplicity of the equipment back then. tractors today can be downed out in the field from a computer problem I have seen it there way to complicated and it's not necessary I really miss the good old days all the way around

These are so awesome to watch! Me and my Dad used to grind Pig Feed with a old Ally. Belt to a IH box grinder. Lol. Boy i miss them days.

I used to grind feed with an old Gehl grinder behind my grandpa's WD 45. Loved that tractor. Now I got one that needs a little TLC for $600. The worst problem with it is there is a bad spot on the ring gear. Love that machine. Great job on the videos boys. Keep it up!

The movie doesn’t mention how the tractor can be used in winter? Like if someone gets stuck in mud or snow then you can use it to tow them out. 😬 Or shovel snow with an end loader?

I grind barley for my pigs with a WD45. I have alot of the snap couple attachments too.

Ya know, i heard a fella say that these days those power shift wheels are considered "Dangerous" can someone make some sense of that? I've always wanted one just getting tougher to find.

This conversion turned out excellent! The coloring is great. It actually looks like it was filmed more recently than it was. What did you use to capture a better image?

The old camera was a cheap old 480dpi we had forever, but upgraded to a cannon t6i last year.

@@JandLVideos What are you using for a lens & what holder for the film? Just curious, as I have a couple train related 16's I'd like to convert. They got the vinegar syndrome & need to be saved before they degrade any further.

We're pretty low tech the film i run through my bell and Howell onto the screen and plug the audio source into the camera. The lens is a 70-300mm. I also changed the filming settings from 30fps to 24fps in the camera and that helps a little with flickering

@@JandLVideos You do a darned good job for low tech. Hard to believe you're capturing from projecting an image onto a screen. I'm doing roughly the same thing here, only I'm using a table top rear projection screen & manual lens. Went the manual route as I found the AF to hunt too much, as the pictures are no longer crisp. Keep up the great work! I've been curious if you have made it over to my channel to check out the converted IH filmstrips. Wondering what your input is in terms of quality of my transfers.

The drawbar he demonstrated installing was shorter than a sae drawbar for pto! Thats why he was able to one hand it in there. That and it wasn't all tweaked and didn't have 30 lbs of stuff welded on where the bale broke because someone chained to it instead of the drawbar! Cheater! He still must of been a strong little guy.

The death of the small family farm was the beginning of all decline in society. There is no good reason why we couldn't still be living like this. And we would all be better for it.

You are so right about that. The feds pushed for low food prices to keep the voter happy but destroyed the family farm in the process. The people who were employed in agriculture are now working meaningless jobs. I should know I'm one of them.

The death of the family farm was a good place to start with the decline in society. But there are countless other things that played in the decline also.
