I don’t think the have the old 2 cycle Detroits any more. The originals were 6-110 before the 6-71 and -92 series diesels from DDA. I think they may have Cummins now.

If you're talking about the ones at the stations, it's to make sure that the freight trains that run on the same line don't collide with the platform, since they're wider than the WES trains.

That wes runs on a freight train track that starts in beaverton and ends in wilsonville, it needs to get close to the stations is why the tracks splits like that, if it didnt people would have to Jump into the train when it stops at the stations.
