So Beautiful!!!! Thanks for sharing. I have a soft spot for Volkswagon Bugs. I had a friend who did a body off resto on one similar to this one. With the moon roof and all. It was lowered with Porche wheels. He took me for a ride in it. SO MUCH FUN!!!!

that's probably one of the best-restored Beetles in the whole world and especially this model from 1953 is very rare.

Amazing looking Split. I have a 1955 oval with a 1915cc, but would definitely love a Split one day. Great job

Nicest '53 beetle I have ever seen. I was born in 1953 and I have had 6 beetles, 2 Karmann Ghias and 2 water-cooled gtis and I would love to have this one.

A suggestion. To keep the rubber seals throughout pristine get some Xerox Fuser oil. You can buy it on ebay. My dad worked for Xerox in the late 60's and a fellow co-worker new of dad's 1969 911 and suggested using it which my dad did prolifically. Still all original mouldings and seals. So 50 years old. My dad sold sold the it in 2009 and a synopsis was written on behalf of the car and writer said the seals and rubber were better then new parts.

Excellent body and interior restoration. I would have liked mechanical to be original, however overall a great restoration. Changing electrics will give better use of modern day driving and also with new mechanical side .Nice split window/ sunroof model.Well done.

.....being me a lucky owner of a Typ82/dod 1°Aug,1943: certified by "WV"Museum, and with, even, all its "KZ"/Fabric bolts: best compliments abt. body and total hig-quality restauration, I'm sorry to criticize the "horrific" engine/exhaust modifications: those details are the "soul" of beautyful car. Best Regards

the Zwitter bug its a hybrid of the split window and the oval window beetle as for the motor originally to be a 25 hp 1131 cc engine but first year for the Solex 28 PCI carburetor as it has an acellerator pump as the carbs the 26 VFI and 26, 28 VFIS carburetors did not have an acellerator pump. as there is a canadian standard of this zwitter but the steering wheel is the old 3 spoke type.

Probably capable of 75mph on the interstate, disk brakes are great, but, still highly susceptible to getting blown off the road by big trucks...
@bruceburns16724 жыл бұрын
I don't know if it was the first reliable cheap car in the world but it certainly was certainly known for it back in the 1960"s before the Japanese car invasion , I personally had three types of them , solid as a rock construction , brilliant bullet proof suspension , I read somewhere that they were perfected during WW2 and never froze on the Russian front and never boiled in the African deserts , its a dam shame we are obsessed with change but this car should still be made just with better handling suspension and better mechanics .

I bought a '62 sunroof (new) when stationed in Southern Italy. Drove all over Europe, brought it back in February, 1964 to Western Pennsylvania. Refused to start in cold weather. I had to park on a hill and drift down using the clutch popping technique to achieve a turnover. The local VW dealer claimed there was nothing wrong. After that I traded on a Triumph.
