JEEP means Just Enough Essential Parts and it was cerated during the world war.

I tend to pronounce it "Will-ees", but if you find some old company commercials or trade show videos, they pronounce it "Will-is.'

Mr Willys used to pronounce his name like th old commercials would "Will-is" But, like you, most people including myself, just say "Willees". Thanks, Cat.

You would think the inventor would know how to pronounce his own name. Will-iss like you said, that's how it was in the commercials.

In Brazil, it was known as RURAL WILLYS.
