Not everyone gets the chance to own the kinds of cars they adored as children, and far fewer end up with the exact same one that made them fall in love with sports motoring in their impressionable youths. Tony Parkinson’s Austin Healey 100S is one such example of that story though, and he is the proud owner of the exact car that his boyhood self idolized growing up outside of Adelaide, Australia. He recalls seeing it out for testing and tuning when it was being set up as a competition car, and now Parkinson is the one behind the wheel during historic race events and road rallies. Patience pays off, and if you’re dedicated and persistent enough then your boyhood dream can live in your garage.

I have said this before, but will say it again - these are not car videos anymore. This is pure art. After every video I think Petrolicious can't get any better and then again you drop this masterpiece. Amazing cinematography, fantastic music. Just wow.

I love your videos but this in particular. Really struck me in a soft spot. I finished a few months ago, restoring my grandfather’s 1955 Austin Healey 100 “Le Mans” factory one off Racer. My da and his father detuned and rebuilt the car in the early sixties and I did a complete nut and bold concourse restoration over the past eight and a half years. Seeing this video made me tear eyed knowing that my dad and now I got to drive in his da’s old racer. This drew a deep emotion from me and I thank you.

I got to me, too. My dad was away at sea (sub commander) a lot when I was a kid. The other officers, home from the sea, would look out for us. One of my fondest memories was cruising around the sub base in Lt. Cowan's 1967 Fiat Spider that he'd brought back from Italy. Years later, I was leaving work heading out to where my beat-up Datsun should have been, only to find a 1980 Fiat Spider 2000 in its place with a note from my wife on the windshield.

Petrolicious, that was a great video. Good, simple story. Fantastic cinematography. And gorgeous scenes of a classic British sports car. But....way, way too short! Not to mention, not nearly enough of the actual 100S (not 1000S btw.) Hopefully this is a teaser for a much longer video? Thanks Petrolicious.

I had a ....tear.. Being born in 55 growing up in the 60s and 70s there was in my small city a kid older than me that had an older brother...they had HEALEYS....several them went thru their ownership. They always had a powerful sound, a heft built into their looks, at the same time fragile in their aluminium .A big chunk of a motor And two seats in a cock pit , like a biplane. I finally many years later ran my own restoration sports car shop and restored about 17 big healeys And a 100-4 converted with cam carbs, air box .I even found one 100-4 to restore for myself. Mostly because of that kid and his older brothers passion for Healey spilled over onto me... After those , brothers...I fell upon two other guys ...broke down in a rented garage replacing the race motor in their original GT40 , to continue their vacation to cape cod from NY......helping those guys for 4 days ...sealed my Sports Car passion before I was 14. 64 now and personally restoring a 240Z and a back dated 280Z.... Ive heard people call them modern Healey's ,.... thats just fine with me. I just call them "My Japanese Ferarri's"

What a stunning and emotive piece of visual art Petrolicious! Anyone who has has a childhood dream of owning such a special car will totally understand the sense of emotion in this movie...it brought me to tears as one such lad who has loved the 100S Healey since boyhood. Filmed in the beautiful hills in South Australia, AHS3906 is in its element. Bravo to you Tony Parkinson and 10/10 on this one Petrolicious.

The best video you have ever done. Quite possibly the best i have ever seen of its type. That kid was me. I will never forget my first ride in the AH 100. I even got to drive it! I remember the way the rear tires chirped going around tight corners. How the back end would bounce sideways over bumps in a turn. The sound of that purring motor. It was/is grand. Cars today have no soul.

Beautiful video. My dad owned an Austin-Healey 100 that he bought shortly after he graduated university with a degree in mechanical engineering in '55. He raced in it SCCA events and eventually holed a piston at one such race. There was a Hot Rod magazine article that inspired him to replace the broken original engine with a Chevy V8. I think he still has the article but he no longer has the Healey. It was the car he had when he met my mom and which he eventually sold so he could marry her.

In my opinion the big Healys are among the most beautiful cars ever made. I restored the body/chassis of a 100M, not mine, years ago, very simple box pressings, you could make most of the pieces with a simple sheet metal brake. The body pieces were another matter. There are several big Healys in the lakes region of New Hampshire, where I now live. It is a sign of Spring when they come out of their garages.
