This 1956 Porsche 356A is a "Sunroof Coupe" that has been owned by the current owner since 1990. It is powered by the original 1600CC engine making approximately 85 horsepower and, as a restored driver example, is a delight to wheel around.

NFS Porche Unleased on the PC with a force feedback steering wheel - epic. Still playable too. Once you get the baby whale (and beyond) though it's a breeze to dominate the races. - Eddy

The music was so epic in porsche unleashed. It was quite relaxing driving through all those landscapes, back then I had a dolby prologic "sorround" system, the environment sounds and engine noise was amazing.

My old 356 had somewhere north of 200k miles when I sold it. It had been rebuilt somewhere around the 120k mile mark. I miss that car.

It needed a full restoration that I couldn't afford to give it, so I sold it to an owner who could.

What a great example of a 356, guys. I had a 1959 356-Cabriolet back in 1972, and I have so many great memories of that fine German automobile. Anyone who thinks these are just pretty Volkswagens has obviously never driven one of these nimble little gems. ;-)

I didn't even have to watch the video. Saw the thumbnail and I know that Porsche is perfect! My dream Porsche. Literally, I have dreams where I own a 356 and I'm going back to school, then when schools out, I go to the parking lot and I can't find it anywhere.

Beautiful Porsche and love the color... 'it's his car and he likes the color"... enough said. ;^) Love the look through the windshield. There is joy in driving a low hp, lightweight, car fast through the corners. Great Porsche Enthusiast and it shows in his knowledge of the cars and understanding what it is he really has, both the strengths and weaknesses. The passion shows! great review!

Nice drive Matt! You drove that well and stayed in the upper Rs up hill. I always double-clutch that 3-2 shift because the original Syncros are not super strong. That is a beautiful car and sounds like it is running really well. The T1 Normal (1600 - black cooling shroud) should be 60hp. That engine bay is very original. Not a VW engine at all - just similar configuration. Thinking this is a VW is the quickest way to say you haven't driven a well sorted one. It is exciting, but not terrifying to drive. Looking forward to the 912 drive.This one was a little before my time.As a little kid discovering the wonderful world of the automobile the first gen 911's and 912's were the ones out in the forefront. This is a cool ride though. So glad he didn't call it a "Porsh"

I looked at one of these when I was about 20 years old. german racing silver with the sunroof. I'm 6' and my memory is that the sunroof took away some headroom. Was that the case? BTW the asking price was $1500.

If it’s the original engine, it has 60 HP. Sweet, almost 60 yrs old 👌 One of the differences to VW engines is that “pushrod” engined 356’s have hemi combustion chambers.

It's bigger than the older 911's , much like the new 911 is a fat pig compared with the old ones . I get what he was saying , park a 70's Porsche next to a new one and they are the same shape , but no where near the same size . A Subaru STI engine and this would keep up with a new base 911 , unfortunately that would kill the value though . Kinda dumb that improving a car would make it worth less , but than who cares if you don't plan to sell it , put an LS in that bitch .

I worked at a Lincoln/Mercury store when those things came out. The launch edition, or special edition, or whatever it was called, was baller as fuck. I remembered them being really nice when they were new. Jag S-Type always sold better, but the LS was nicer looking to me.
