This mook is off the hook! A old Irish saying. All I hear is how the new cars of today? I don’t see that issue? This was a Artist who designed and created. During this time in automotive creation was the most beautiful cars ever! It truly amazes me that we used to invent these works of art! This is beautiful,and pleasant to the eyes. God Bless.

I’m a 75 year old gearhead and love this era when car designers actually incorporated style in their designs. Anyone could see the difference between a ‘57 Ford or Chevy or Buick. Also, each car manufacturer had their own proprietary engines. The small block Chevy was nothing like the Rocket 88 Olds or Nailhead Buick V8. I pay attention to design and nowadays cannot tell these cars apart from one another. Yep, they were monstrous gas hogs and this ‘58 Buick bumper probably weighed more than a Toyota Corolla.

You could make three Honda’s out of that hood alone. The 50’s and 60’s produced rolling pieces of art. Each year of any given model had a totally different design than the year before and chrome was an essential part of the car. You could see it from a mile away and be able to tell if It was a Chevy or a Ford. If you saw tall fins you knew it was a Cadillac. Now you get no chrome, half the metal and no individual identity. Everything looks alike and that’s too bad.

Ok. Enough of the liter crap. Most Americans didn't know what a liter was when this automobile was built. Let's try 364 cid.
@gailbrocksom4333 жыл бұрын
We spell it LITRE and what are cid? I guess the ci is cubic inches, does d stand for displacement? Cubic inches make it impossible for me to contrast and compare engines, I understand litres because its how we have always measured engine size here in Yorkshire.
@patsyware17883 жыл бұрын
@@gailbrocksom433 I understand. That is what you were taught since you were born. I'm 65 and only knew Cubic Inch Displacement. One advantage CID has is comparing engines from different makes which have very close displacement . I remember several engines of 427, 426 and 428 CID. All of these would be labeled 7 Litre (here it can also be spelled Liter). There was also 348, 350 and 351 (5.7L) and many other examples. All one had to say was the CID number and you pretty much knew what manufacturer it was. For us 0.1 litre covers 6 cubic inches which can encompass many manufacturers. If someone told me they have a 351 engine I know it is a Ford engine. Only question is whether it is a Cleveland or Windsor plant. And 350 would be a Chevy with maybe 20 million of those made.
