One of the first things I did on Little Joe seeing that the points were toast anyway. Same products. I love Pertronix. I love your videos Don.

Hi, This is Joe from Joe's Garage, Very nice videos. Not too many vids out there on "1959 Ford F100; inline 223 6 cyl" trucks. I have a few videos of my 59 Ford Restoration, trying to keep it stock. Working on the cooling system, but having trouble trying to locate a Heater core...Oh well!, part of the fun. Thank you Joe

Thank you Joe! And here is a link to a Napa heater core that fits with only minor mod to the tubes. www.napaonline.com/en/p/TWEMEI6870?partTypeName=Heater%20Core&keywordInput=heater%20core&fbclid=IwAR2hw448WA3ZW90xdcOrHTpXzS_9W3pR-I-dy8QEIETqLyjbjjJ3jceZ6SA

Don, excellent video. This and another KZfaq video helped me get around an issue and figure out how to install Pertronix on my 59 8-cylinder.

Loved your video of the electronic ignition install.... I used the same model number on my 1956 Ford F100 223 6 cylinder... Followed your video.. no problems I cannot believe how much better my truck runs... Getting ready to sell the old truck and I think this will be a good selling point I did save all the old parts which I usually do anyway. Thanks for your help and step by step instructions.

I have a 54 ford f100 with a 223 6 cyl engine, I installed pertronix, it was excellent, because the platinum is condensed and always stuck and the truck left me on the street. 😁😁😁

The engine is sooo much smoother than with points but I still keep the old points in the glovebox just in case...

Oh, and I use Valvoline 10W-30 regular oil and motorcraft filter. I don't use synthetic on my old motor. It's a waste of money at this point IMO.

I like those Wix filters. I know the $20 oil change filter and oil are junk... but it is SO convenient and cheap! lol

Fantastic job Don. This video made me purchase the Pertronix 1218 set for my 1960 292 V8. Can you please do a video on how to adjust the timing after it is installed? Edit: 1281
@DonWSquared
@DonWSquared 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. That Pertronix is still running strong. Only thing I did different than a typical timing adjustment was gap the spark plugs to .40. Otherwise: Idle, vacuum gauge, idle mix, timing light, done.

At 2min 11sec you showed the black ground underneath the distributor.. where does it go or do you remove it completely? Im asking because I installed one on my 53 ford station wagon and don't know what to do with the wire now? thanks also It won't start so if you would be so kind as to watch the suoer short video and give me your opinion what it sounds like thank you
@DonWSquared
@DonWSquared 3 жыл бұрын
At the 2:38 mark you can see a close up of where it attaches on the underside of the distributor... And at the 4:58 mark I’m removing it. Check it out!

I have 63 f100 with a 223. Thinking about doing this to mine. Does this completely remove the resistor from the old coil? Any other upgrades to the ignition prior to this?
@DonWSquared
@DonWSquared 3 жыл бұрын
I should have put the resistor in the episode! Easy, just disconnect the in/out wires on the resistor (DS firewall) and splice them togeter. Done. I left the resistor in place just in case... And that is it, no other mods. Thanks for watching!

Did you not have to bypass the resistor with the new coil? Adding the pertronix to my 64 f1 223
@DonWSquared
@DonWSquared 3 жыл бұрын
I did, just didn't put it in the video and I should have. It did run fine without bypassing the resistor (on the firewall), but when I did? Wow, really made a difference.

Did adjusting your timing fix the carb sucking air problem? Mine used to sound like yours but has gotten worse is why I'm asking.

Yes, I noticed quicker cold-starts now, too. I'd love to go to that big show and hang with the other Fridge owners, but it's just way too far from here in Colorado.
