Thank you for the video. I just, and I mean just, acquired this exact mill in a barter with a neighbor. I am in the process of restoring it back to the original operations and paint. I would have never known how to fix the stones if it hadn't been for your video! I do have the feeder spring broken and will have to either braise it or order a replacement. The good thing is that this company is still operational according to my internet searches. Thank you again!

It’s pretty neat to learn about the technology of the past. I love seeing the craftsmanship. There’s no computer chips or 3D printed pieces made by a software program. There’s just true talent and know how with actual metal and stone materials. I hope you have at least one apprentice learning the skills from you. Thank you for filming the process and explaining the steps to us. Watching you is like watching Bob Ross except instead of seeing happy little trees pop up on a canvas, we get to see happy little mills restored and making beautiful products!! You truly are an artist and I’m glad there are so many wanting mills restored and who appreciate your work. While it’s not exact, the word remenica seems to be a Croatian word meaning pulley or disc. 😊

I appreciate your sharing this Lea. I do not have an apprentice yet but I do have a promising prospect. Your words are humbling. There is a lot of interest in mills these days, and it is a good thing. You have given me a gift, now I know more about what I know. Thank you Lea, you have made my day.

Thank you Justin, I never knew exactly how Mills worked. I had the general idea, but now it is very clear. Maybe someday I’ll find an old mill at a Flea Market or estate sale. It would be a fantastic find to further enhance prepping ability. Very useful to have, just in case. It would be fun to grind flour to make pizza dough and bake it in my homemade Justin Metcalf pizza oven! Billy can show me how to make pepperoni and mozzarella cheese, you’ve shown me how to make mater sauce. Good to go!

@@metcalfmills5679 The arm for the adjustment screw and the arm on the front of the machine. The holes looked to be "warbled" out. I can send you pics if you like. Just think that it would run more fluid with newly machined pieces. But that's just my opinion and I still think it was an awesome rebuild man. Getting those stones back in shape was great work.

Enjoyed the video Justro. That was very interesting. Ive lived in the county, Surry County next to Wilkes County where Meadows Mill is located in North Wilkesboro and didn't know they manufactured grain mills too. I only thought they made saw mills. Ive learned allot watching you grind these mill stones. Also North Carolina Granite is located in Surry County. Is that type granite used for mill stones? Thanks for the video and y'all take care and God bless.

At 15:55 of this video you show a close up of the dressed stone. It is kind of blurry but it looks like small striated marks going from the outer diameter to the center of the stone. Is that the effect you are trying to achieve? I have a small hand driven stone mill that I bought in the 70's. I used it to grind wheat. Usually just a couple cups at a time. It has not been dressed since I bought it. When my son took on making bread he bought a counter top electric model. So mine sets in storage.
