On “My Car Story” we're in Amelia Island FL at the “The Amelia” The Amelia Island Concours D’Elegance on 3-4-22.
We’re looking at a 1959 Porsche 718 RSK Spyder Center Steer in Silver Paint. The car features a flat 4 cylinder air cooled engine.
The car's Owner is Rick Grant, and being show by Care Taker Dale Oaks. Dale shares Rick’s had the car since 1990. He shares there were only 4 “Center Steer” cars built. This one runs and sounds great.

I been reading ,studying, researching about cars since I was a early teen. Now I am getting near 60 . Just when you think you know just about all there is about factory made cars something comes along you have never heard of. Its one of the things that keeps the car hobby so interesting. Very cool car ! I can Imagine that is a blast to derive around a course. This is my favorite era of Porsches. Loved this style ever since I saw the movie "King of the Mountain" back in the early 80s.

That thing is probably in the top five most valuable Porsche's on the planet. Can't imagine what that thing would go for if it was put on The Auction Block today.

Lou, I knew exactly what is was. I'd never SEEN one. Center steer. I loved the way he said change the steer, 8 hours, 2-3 then. Sculpture. Listen to that purr. Or is that a rumble. Are you ready to rumble? Street legal. Wow. Go Buckeye's.

Waou! Al parecer estabas ante una pieza rara y única de la historia automotriz! Este pequeño pero estilizado Porsche 718 RSK 1959 es uno de los solamente 34 que se construyeron! Lo llamaban “Asesino de Gigantes” debido a que llegó a vencer, inclusive, a vehículos mucho más poderosos de su tiempo como los Ferraris V12 que, en ese entonces, dominaban las competencias de resistencia en Le Mans o Sebring! Dicen que durante toda su carrera tuvo mucho éxito y regularmente ganaba en su clase o, incluso, en las carreras en general donde competía! En verdad que me llamó tanto la atención esta pequeña bala de plata que tuve que hacer esta corta investigación... ¡Saludos cordiales Lou!

Now that's an interesting looking car! This Porsche is a true grand prix classic! It's equipped with a powerful air cooled engine that sounds downright awesome with a 5 speed manual transmission behind it. It's rare to see a left hand steering car, and even more rare to see a center steering car like this example. These are the sports cars that I like, but I am not too keen on the newer models you featured on here. This car is way cool!
