I will give you a A for effort... You should be able to rotate the whole block assembly on your stand to make it easier..... If your other block is good use it and your new cylinder sleeve assembly 😉

Thanks! The diesel is unfortunately slightly different than the gas engine so I can mix and match parts

You have a lot working against you on this engine! I bought my 1010 diesel back in 1978. I had to totally disassemble it at the time due to a missing oil gallery plug that was left out during a rebuild before I got it. Had very low oil pressure. Anyway, if you are going to use the diesel, I have the engine repair manual if you need any specs. I can email you some scanned pages.

Probably too late to warn you, but 1010 diesel engines were past bad, IDK if they're the same part number, but I would strongly recommend using that deck plate in the gas engine if they're compatible. I'd hate to see you get it all back together just for it to do what 1010 diesels do best and blow up for no good reason.

So this engine is on the back burner because the guy I got it from broke the casting on one of the head bolts. Hoping to repair it. Unfortunately I am also missing a ton of parts to get this diesel engine running

@@IntoTheDirtshop You'd have to do your research, but if you aren't as focused on originality as I am, I believe there's a little Detroit Diesel engine that's a direct bolt in replacement to the 1010 engines

@@IntoTheDirtshop I actualy just found where I found the information before, it seems that a 2-53 from a John Deere 440 should bolt straight into the bellhousing on a 1010. No garuntees that it's any easier to find, I'd try Farmer John's Parts, but they're a lot easier to find parts for than the original 1010 engines
