1960, THE ANN SOUTHERN SHOW
Oscar Pudney played by Jesse White is the Hotel's magazine stand owner and has a bit of larceny running through his veins but is outdone in that respect by his looser Cousin Shelly played by Robert Strauss. Cousin Shelly shows up in dire straights and is looking for money. Oscar overhearing a conversation by Ann Southern played by Katy O'Conner where she is making arrangements for a stay at the hotel by a cattle baron from Argentina where everything will by comped by the hotel. He has Cousin Shelly impersonate the cattle baron who is not due to show up for 2 weeks so that the two men might have an all expense paid vacation themselves. Ann finds out she has been duped and dreams up a way to get the money back that has been pilfered from the hotel by the two men.

If the guy at the newsstand looks familiar, it is character actor Jessie White, who was the Maytag repairman on commercials. Also he was in the movie Back from Eternity which Barbara Eden mad her movie debut in 1956. She also made her TV acting debut in Private Secretary in 1955 in an episode. By the way, unmille gracias para el television Americano mi mujer! I am Cuban born and am bi lingual.

The opening scene is Lower Manhattan at the financial District of Wall Street. The second scene is Park Avenue! I recognize it anywhere, I am a New Yorker, I should know. When cars looked like cars, not toys.

I agree, automobiles from that period were beautiful works of art. 90% of the rolling stock on our highways these days is pure garbage.

Ms. Sothern was married to Rod Sterling (1943-1949) they had one child, Tisha Sterling born Dec 10, 1944 (age 76) Las Vegas, NV August 8, 2021
