I purchased this 1960 Tonka Sanitary System Garbage Truck on eBay November of 2020. It was in obvious need of restoration. I was super happy when it arrived and a little surprised at how fast the action of the dump arms worked. In today's world this toy would have been recalled almost immediately do to the danger of it. This one took a little longer than normal and I was thrilled with how well it turned out.

There is four things I love about your restoration, 1. The sheep in the junkyard 2. The use of the sandblasting to remove the old paint 3. The use of powder paint, instead of tin spray paint 4. The way that you can make something that is old and rusted look like new, or how it looked like it was just rolled of the toy factory floor back int the day.

Fantastic job, like always! Would not miss any of your videos, the sheep, and of course, "The Quality Inspector", the whole junk yard and, of course, your stable of cares and planes that Hoovie would never match. Worried about the index finger, followed the changes in band aids, the stitches in earlier videos looked serious, I hope it is ok now.

Soylent Green is Sheeple! Remember when parents took that particular toy away from kids('59-'60 models)? Because the hydraulic cylinder would leak its oil and the actuator dump would SPRING back and chew up fingers! There is a tutorial online on how to recharge the cylinder with grease, giving a less reactive return. Who remembers why Trash trucks had scoops instead of just lifting arms to remove trash?

The spring on the loading arm featured an internal air damper so it would raise the arm slowly - sort of a realistic emulation of a hydraulic system. They were really cool for 3-4 years until the inner seals gave way, at which point your little brother had a useful catapult for castle play.

Yup. Had one of those on my son's green tonka dump truck ....... which he loved to give his guinea pig rides in ..... he would always put a small towel in the truck bed so the critter was comfy ...... one day after the "lifter" died and he was giving rides, he said watch mommy, I'm gonna make Ernie fly ........ I didn't know I could move so fast ..... Ernie did not fly that day, and I told my son if he did that to Ernie he would no longer have a truck ..... Ernie died of old age rather than a heart attack during an air flight

Another outstanding restoration. Always glad that you stay true to the original colors. I wish I had something to soothe your hands, they look so sore. Thanks for sharing your shop with us. Look forward to Chip on Sunday.

Man alive! that must have been your most finicky project ever, I've called my mate who is the head curator of the Louvre museum in Paris and asked if it can be displayed alongside the Mona Lisa............unfortunately the best he can do is display it alongside the cleaning ladies mop bucket, I did try!.............................Brilliant job.

Это всё супер! Завораживает! Идеальная работа и вторая жизнь игрушек. Но посмотрите на руки мастера - нет живого места, одни раны! Их тоже надо ремонтировать..
