Waite Hoyt was a great announcer. Originally from Brooklyn and a Hall of Fame pitcher for the Yankees, Hoyt uses his strong NY accent to announce for the Reds franchise for which he broadcasted 25 years. He loved the Yanks, but he loved the Reds, Cincinnati and players like Frank Robinson, Pete Rose and Vada Pinson too. What a hoot to listen to him again - a bright, engaging storyteller.

I don't like the Yankees lol, but hearing Maris and Mantel playing is so cool. That old time feel of the game. The funny adds

Actually, it was at Cincinnati (0:52), not NYC.

If Reds has found a way to win this game, the 1961 World Series might have had a different result.

“Frankie” Robinson at 13:07? That’s the 1st time I’ve heard this great and proud ballplayer called this name. I don’t think he would like to be called “Frankie.”
