A new video in a series on my friends cool Ferrari GTO kit build. This body kit is on a 70's Datsun 280 Z and it will be powered by a 5.0L Ford! Killer craftsmanship and talent going in this build, my friend really knows his stuff when it comes to building and fabricating a custom car.

Beautiful build. Looks close to the original except for the wheelbase. Stunning car. Mustang parts is perfect. The Ferrari badge har a horse in it. :)

Ahh, th miriad questions an mods required 2 complete such an endevour... almost all are forgotten upon completion, rite? Gotta keep a record of all that... always fun an rewarding to b reminded of th pain behind th gain...

Oh yes. I think back to how many times I would say to myself “one step forward, two steps back!” Usually on a stock restoration you know where you’re going to end up, well sort of, …but something like this where it’s A definite custom build, you’re going to run into all kinds of problems that need to be solved!

I’m curious about the back glass…. Wondering if it was made of plexi? Trying it on mine, but not thrilled with the results. Looks great, either way!

Hey there, here’s what Joe said: “ I have not had it made yet. Was going to take it to Pro Glass, they can make it out of poly carbonate. I called a place that can make me one out of real glass but it is 5k.”

I really like this idea and the effort it takes, but the design had to incorporate headlights that sit much higher - in order to be legal for the road- than the original GTO. It was a race car and a major part of its lines and form come off of a much lower headlight location; the major reason the GTO looks the way it does is because it was an evolution of the previous SWB and the GTO gained it's front contours for greater aerodynamic performance. The Z transformation is cool but just not quite "there" for me.
