I'd like to have been in charge of expenditures for sponsoring Mr. Ed at Studebaker-Packard. There would have had to be one shot at the very least of a Studebaker every episode. I watch the program on Light TV and it's extremely rare to even glimpse a Studebaker. The dealers sure didn't get their money's worth.

The 1962 styling changes were very attractive and well received. Sales of these Lark models was quite a bit better than 1961. 1962 also saw the first Brooks Stevens designed Gran Turisimo Hawk , a stunningly beautiful update of the long running Hawk line. Unfortunately competition primarily from the Big 3 compacts and Rambler was so strong Studebaker sales didn’t get high enough to breakeven financially.
