It’s a shame cars didn’t end up looking like this. Love this style

If Ford would’ve only added a sleeper to this, that would be a remarkable truck for it’s time

What are you some kind of shill for the oil companies? gas turbine is more fuel efficient than traditional combustion engines, and can run on almost anything combustible.

@@zanktarrdedyoure wrong. Just stop. If turbines were so plainly viable we would see them on container ships, ferries, all sorts of road transport, freight trains, small power stations... but they all use diesels. In fact there were some freight trains that USED to use turbines but now no one does. They all yse diesels. Ever thought about that? Besides the fact that they arent easier on fuel, they also are extremely specialised maintenance wise. By the way, the oil industry cannot and does not prevent the development of technology in this regard. As if only one company ever tries... if its viable, lots of companies would be doing it all over the world. Its competition. You think the japanese or germans care what the oil companies think? They are trying to develop more ecanomic trucks all the time! Use your damn brain for gods sake.

Fuel/oil companies is why. Why produce something for trucks that will delay the refuelling process? They'd rather push for all these other engines that guzzle diesel and ad-blue

Because they were and are significantly less fuel efficient for the purpose of hauling freight than diesel engines.

I think there’s a space for it, but it will have to run on another fuel more easily produced by chemical or biological means from renewable resources, making fuel in itself renewable. Batteries require more elements to produce, but have their advantages in vehicles that are already inherently heavy. Locomotives and Semi trucks would be good examples, but when more power is needed, turbines could take the lead.

As of now gas turbines could be a very good alternative. Furthermore, with modern improvements, those gas turbine trucks could be way better than our diesel trucks. However this tech is expensive but if we make enough of those machines, the tech will gradually get cheaper. So, if this power is developed, we could have very good super trucks

I saw that truck all those years ago. I'm sorry to say the gas turbines were for dreamers and that hasn't changed. The figures are just not there. I could be excused for believing turbines were a trojan horse when the vehicle builders could not meet the emission levels required. Since then govts. have changed the gaol posts to facilitate them.A friend of mine designed and built the lowest emission engine in the world, took it to America, demonstrated it in CA. to Senators and the vehicle industry successfully. They didn't want to know about it. It was external combustion, a steamer. Internal combustion engines were obsolete over fifty years ago so I could believe the tail wags the dog. Nothing has changed.
