An outstanding 1967 73’ Custom-Built Long-Distance, Ocean Crossing, Flush Deck Cruiser, well known as a “little ship”, is now on the market! Please contact us for additional information and to arrange a viewing - Rob C: 250-327-4572 or E: robert@calibreyachts.ca
Built in California USA, this custom 73 ft yacht was built from a vision that Mr. Weinberg had and then collaborated with a well-respected Naval architect George Moore. Together they designed and built a very strong, comfortable, offshore and safe vessel. There was no expense sparred as to what went into her. As an example, she has a 6-inch-thick fiberglass hull, fin stabilizers, 3 staterooms, large aft entertaining cockpit and could be viewed as a mini-ship. She has been lovingly cared for over the years and is in exceptional mechanical condition to ensure she offers the very finest experience for guests on board. Pioneer has had 4 owners since construction. She has been cruising the Pacific Northwest, down as far as Mexico and has crossed over to Hawaii. While in Hawaii, her beauty caught the attention of Hollywood and she starred in a few movies with Harrison Ford and Robert Wagner’s series. Now Pioneer is looking for new owners and to take you out on amazing adventures.

I've watched about ten of Richard's presentations and this is absolutely the first one with a number of classless attacks against him. Jealous crowd. He doesn't deserve that, he comes across as sincere and passionate about the product he sells. Compare him against "NautiStyles", especially the female and she thinks she is the best thing since sliced bread. Lousy presenter and lack of product knowledge. She's the type that buys expensive clothes, makes the video and then returns the clothing for a refund.

In real estate, this is called "Puffing". He Puffs so much that when I see him, I just change the channel because he's trying to sell me something that isn't that great. He was just describing an old black refrigerator and he stated, "Oh, my goodness, that's as big as the one I have at home." Really? I just learned that he's the founder of the company and he is based in a little place next to a little place in Victoria, Canada where's he is probably King so I will give him a pass.

The presenter is a good salesperson. Tries to put YOU inside the boat, talks about relaxation, comfort, holidays, etc. Another words gets to your emotions where you can see yourself relaxing on the deck with a glass of fine wine ploughing through the water, wind in your hair and not a care in the world. Subtle selling.

She is a lovely old girl with some great bones. She obviously needs some significant upgrades to the electronics, lighting, galley and such, and I am sure there are some unpleasant, expensive surprises waiting for the next owner on a boat that large and that old. But for the right owner, who is not afraid to open the checkbook and put in the necessary upgrades/retrofitting, she has excellent potential. Cool boat.

Not just replacement parts because as you say very often they would not be available and you would need to replace the entire unit (that Radar came straight of Noah's Ark) but running cost on a boat that age would be far higher than a modern yacht as well.

Harbour Dog. I agree. I started learning both ways. This old schooler figures the more important something is, the more important hard copy is. We had indeed had an electronic glitch which necessitated us to Oops, limp right back down to Juneau and bug Brick for another couple days. My mom half the time lived on boats so she showed me how to plot a course. As a novice my best friend was still the depth finder even in Alaska. Closer to Juneau of course I was double double double checking the "whose who" of those channel markers too. Some of you do know about a couple of user unfriendlies en route to Auke Bay...

6in thick fiberglass. Bet that was an interesting request in 1967.
@c5back9
@c5back9 4 жыл бұрын
zhp500: perhaps not as odd as some might think. Glass hulls were thicker in those days than what we have today. Many production boats this size might have had 3-4 inches of glass in a good bit of the hull anyhow. Given this was being custom built as a blue water boat for long distance transits on all seas, and for an owner of considerable means, the idea of adding a couple inches to make her tougher makes sense. Hauling her out for her survey is going to be something though.

Low hours is a myth for fragile boaters. For every boater who is in the least bit competent there are 50 boaters who ruin their tampons every 100 boating hours. Modern engines can easily have 20,000 hour half-lives and people who have no business on the water fret about them having 700 hours as if the things are about to blow like Hiroshima. These days the seas are full of idiots aka "credit card captains".

If you put a 2020 Raymarine plotter in the helm next to that old radar scope, you would create a rip in the space time continuum that would transport you back in time like the cheesy "80s movie "Philadelphia Experiment". Pack accordingly.

It has done the job in the past and I am sure it will continue to do it's job. Some of the controls and information systems may be outdated but it does not mean that they are not perfectly acceptable and usable. If she has radar and sonar that is not to bad at all.
