We're looking at a 1967 Buick Skylard GS 340 in White Paint & Red Stripes. The car comes with the factory 340 CI V8 engine.
The car's Owner is Steen Traxler. Steen’s had this car since 2016. Steen Brother Starc shares his Brother bought a rare set of hubcaps, and decided he needed a car to put them on, and purchased this car to put them on.
ENJOY!

Thrilled to find this video. I had one of these that I bought used in upstate NY in 1969. Drove it to Travis AFB in California and drove it back to Syracuse, NY in 1973. Drove it for 4 yrs of college there. Best car I've ever owned. Great sentimental value to see one here. Mine had a white top, not black vinyl like this one. Didn't have the AC and the air cleaner was different. The odd thing about mine that I've never figured out is that it didn't have the broad red stripe at the bottom, had a red pinstripe up higher instead. I know all the literature shows that it should have had the broad red stripe. Other than that, the cars are identical and it was great to see and hear one again.

What a fun car this is! And you’re right; the sounds. The springs for the hood, the tinny sound of the deck lid closing, everything. Just reminds me of all the metal that once made up cars of yesteryear. Thanks Lou and the owners for a fun time!

I had a GS340, I got it in 1982. It did not have A/C or power brakes though. The 12 1/4 compression ratio , combined with the 2 speed street light to street light transmission didn't go well with a teenage driver. I poked holes in the top of the pistons on two occasions. But I loved it. It was a great car. Every kid should have this as their first car. Just don't go over 120 mph in it.

The 300 and 340 were great engines. The 300 2bbl was from 1964-1967. The 300 4bbl was only for 1964-1965 and the 340 was only for 1966 or 1967. The 1966 340 was the Wildcat 375, as was the 401 2bbl low compression (the 401 4bbl high compression was the 410 Wildcat). The 300 2bbl was the 310 Wildcat and the 300 4bbl was the 355 Wildcat.

Lou, that roof you pointed out is the same exact stamping as a Chevelle, LeMans/GTO, and Buick Special/Skylark/GS 2dr. hdtp. (along w/most inner body stampings) Man, those hub caps ARE rare, though I think they're the same exact ones found on Chevelle SSs w/a Buick Tri-Sield substituted. Same w/the rims & caps ON the car. They seem to be Chevy Rally rims painted red, and the center caps are Chev. Rally caps w/a different logo. If you happen to see these gents again please tell'em Johnny Lightning made this *exact* car in 1:64 rith down to the coloring except roof is white. Love that they knew the production figures. The more history you can get out of these car owners the better. Nice work!

What he says is true, the GS 340 package originally came in silver with red stripes or white with red stripes. I thought I recalled seeing a picture somewhere of gold with red but that may have been a "regular" Gran Sport. A friend of my cousin who lived a few houses down on his dead-end block had one in the '80s; it was jacked up with big rubber out back, slapper bars, flared rear quarters and it was half in primer. Nevertheless the Buick was still a real cool car to my impressionable young eyes. Later, in the early '90s, the GS owner's brother had a '71 or '72 Satellite with a 440 swapped in and a skull and crossbones decal on the trunk. He and my cousin used to chase each other around their local neighborhood streets. My cousin was driving an '85 Mustang GT at that time and my older brother had a t-top '84. Fun days. : D

I had a '67 GS 400: 4 speed, buckets w/center console & the Star Trek air cleaner. The 'star wars' nomenclature is a bit of a misnomer as that movie didn't come out until 1977, ten years later. Star Trek original TV series, however, was in its' prime. Either model is a purdy, purdy car. Would like to have another '400.

Later models had bucket seats and console, I have seen one in my life with a 4 speed , 1969 GS 400 stage1 not sure what that all ment but I'm thinking 400 was engine?? @loucostabile
@loucostabile 4 жыл бұрын
Hi 413x398, It's time for a secret...Lou doesn't do homework. It's like Christmas. Many times I open the garage door (Christmas present) and see the car for the 1st time. Sure I ask the Care Taker to clean the trunk and do we have any period correct brochures to share with the Viewers, but most of the time, you're seeing the car for the 1st time like I am. Lou P.S. It took me FOREVER to get my GPA up in college, so homework is not my strength, and the BONUS is I don't have to do the homework because the Care Takers provide the answers for the test :-)
@413x398
@413x398 4 жыл бұрын
@@loucostabile LOL. I bet the dog ate your homework, too. OK, what some guys do is just "say" they have crossed over into Mexico for the test drive, and then proceed to hammer the throttle. 'Cuz, you know you can't get a ticket in the U.S. for speeding down there. Or so they say. hehehehe. Anyway, I was on the Honor Roll in a Institute of Higher Learning back when, so homework is/was my thing. You know, important stuff. Up to about 15 years I could recite the proper Mopar and FoMoCo names and codes for their paint colors from 68 to 71. You know, important stuff!
