Love it. Bill reminds me so much of my Dad. If he was still around I would share your videos with him. But he would rather adjust rocker arms, cursed at headers, and can tell you a thing or two about spark plugs. Thanks Evan for posting. This video brings back a lot of memories racing with my Dad. Keep the content going. ❤

Great informative video. . Bill is in my age group so hats off to this Vietnam veteran who can still see the sky each time he launches that amazing Shelby Mustang. Without a doubt. You have the best Ford performance channel on U-Tube putting us in the passenger seat and under the hood of these classic and current Ford Hotrods. Great job Evan.

I was sold at the age of 11 in 5th grade, 1970. My Uncle stop next to me on way home from school said "GET IN Robbie". I did and side-stepped the clutch and pounded the gears for 1000 feet , till he slowed then swung into his driveway. I got out said thanks uncle Matt. Half way across his lawn as I walked home I vowed to get a Black Ford with that motor in it. Took me 10 years I got it! In a 67 Fairlane 500. Drag raced it three years, Ran 12 0's, deadly consistent street engine, won 5 of 6 first 6 races in it making ppl known I Mean business. Had a 35% win/loss record with it. Nobody even seen me out there, I came from nowhere suddenly and made waves" as said. Know this engine well. Only issue ever as a 75cent rocker arm bolt broke, else bullet proof engines!

Here I am again, clicking like before the video ever starts. I just know darn well we are going to have some killer Ford and I'm liking it. Used to goto Maple Grove quite a bit. Even way back some 30 plus years ago. Used to get passes through a local shop in Shrewsbury MA and Joe Amato. Got those till some idiots with us drank to darn much and you know when you drink more than the old racers then you have issues. One idiot was found passed out in the bath tub. Problem was it was someone else room and we didn't know them. Crazy thing is the idiots whom the room belonged to, was stealing sponsor t-shrits and hoodies. Oh what a nightmare the whole thing was and it ruined a great weekend. Well I guess it was better than when I blew my ankle out at Englishtown, heck that I'm still dealing with 23 years later. What a nightmare come to think of it, not like I don't ever not think of it

Really love these old school Ford loyalists, like the Wood's Brothers, Mickey Thompson (deceased), and glad they are still turning wrenches. Not old fashioned, just old school technology that needs to be preserved and promoted, and can still hold it's own against the newer vehicles. The Shelby pony cars up to 1970 were the coolest of the cool. Far better looking cars than any of the Mustangs that came later. You should have miked Mr. Hawk when he was working on those valves. Great video still, and hope to see more like this.

Velde Ford. I remember back in the mid 70's Jeff Velde was modifying two four barrel Tunnel Wedge intakes by cutting them apart and using a single plenum, converting them into a single 4 barrel intake. It was good for 2 tenths in the quarter mile over what was currently available for the 428 Cobra Jet. He was going to start casting a version of that intake, but I don't ever remember seeing it. The Gene Turnage SS/F car was the first one to use that intake, then I think that Velde bought the car off of him and campaigned it himself.

@brianstyles9768
@brianstyles9768 7 ай бұрын
Yes, 00187 is reported to be in Norway. The VIN tag on this drag car is a repop, and it is an inaccurate representation of the original car's VIN, as the paint color code was changed to represent the drag car's black paint (3). The VIN on the original car should be 674000F7A00187 (7 = Lime Gold).

EXACTLY THREE 1967 Shelby GT500s were fit with 427 side oilers by SAI at LAX…numbers 289, 544 (Super Snake) and 1947 (Drag Unit). All came from Ford San Jose with 428s but SAI converted before their completion and sale. Since SAI is the manufacturer of record, that is factory installed. All three are known and accounted for.

-paper car. Cars like these really changed Stock Eliminator for the worse. Shelby put documentation to a lot of cars that were never really made. This car should have had to race in Top-Stock because of the engine chassis combo. This guy did not get respect from his fellow racers because of the BS behind this car.

If that makes you feel better to say, but it is not true. For the first 30+ years of the NHRA these cars did not exist. This mans red '71 was a legit car- he did not win a lot much less dominate with that car. BUT when he got this paper got built....kinda proves my point.@@revanevan

@RealDougFields

You done repeating total BS? Any guy that did this was wrong and a cheater. Saying he wasnt the only one doesnt make him legitimate somehow. Only Real cars that were actually produced (-in real numbers) were eligible to race in Stock Eliminator for the first 30+ years. AND the class flourished because of this. Now- not so much. No one said its not a cool car. It just should not have been allowed to race in Stock Eliminator. @@dj4monie
