Reupholstered the Camaro seats with TMI Sport Seats. This was way more work than I anticipated! I probably should have just bought new seats. They turned out great though!

Very commendable work, both of you! I can attest to what a pain in the ass those seats are to come together. I for one will never use TMI again. I think the quality is not worth what you pay for. If I had it to do again, I would have just stuck with Legendary and kept the seats stock looking. These are too bulky and I sit much higher in the car than before. Nevertheless, amazing work on yours.

Yeah, I do agree with you. I was going for a resto mod look, but the seats are too tall. TMI I think is good quality but the lead times are crazy. I waited 10 months to get door panels from them before I canceled the order and ordered Distinct industries panels that were in stock. Thank You!

Nice job, Thanks for posting this video. I’m going through this same project. I have my seats stripped which was such a long process! I paid to have them media blasted which came out phenomenal. I also had to repair a few broken springs. I used red oxide primer and semi gloss rust oleum. I’m going have a professional install the foam and covers because I’d hate to mess something up and want a nice clean look.

Thank you! They are lots of work and getting all the wrinkles out can be tedious. I started to wonder if it was a better idea to just buy the new assembled seats from TMI

Thanks for posting this. If you had started with good frames (no frame or spring repair needed), would you still think it a better idea to just buy the prebuilt seats? I’m trying to decide between the prebuilt and recovering them myself, and my frames are solid. Thanks.

Honestly think it comes down to how much you want to spend. Doing it this way still utilizes the factory springs and TMIs foam on top of those. This causes you to feel a little bouncy in the seat and occasionally I could hear the springs when I sat in them. The TMI prebuilt utilize a complete foam bottom like a modern seat. Recovering is a lot of work and saves money, but I told myself I would just buy they prebuilt TMI seats next time.

@@victorfagan3043 thanks for the insight. I do like the idea of the modern full foam style bottom. We’ll see where I land with the budget I guess!
