If ever there was an advert that typified the late 1960s (in a way I just can't explain) then this is it. Since converting it (and downloading it) I haven't stopped playing it - I think it's because it's set on a night flight (what the Americans call a redeye) is what makes it SO fascinating. Airline adverts don't get any better than this and the only one that ever comes close is that one for British Airways, the one with the blonde-haired, steel blue-grey eyed stewardess. I've only one thing to say to Ron Fink, keep this up!!!

We get the old t.v shows, old comedies etc... But never any adverts shown during the day :(

Yes, definitely a VC10. It brings back lots of memories from those good old days. It was always the same, girls busy doing nothing in the galley, Chief out in cabin, anticipating needs, finding work for girls, why didn't the First Afficer ask for a telegraph and green apple - aaah! he already had it! wasn't it nice when passengers did as they were told . . . lights out you lot.

I joined BOAC shortly after this ad was released, I think it's a VC10.

How did they get away with things like " I'll crack the wip in the galley" and " got every thing you want sir" Now a days we don't get any good old British humour on telle :(

It's a VC-10. Check the latch buttons on the overhead lockers when the sergeant-major wishes the passengers sweet dreams, and the overhead lockers themselves when he walks up the aisle in the darkened cabin.

@e707bod The VC10 at Duxford has the 1970's British Airways interior. This is a VC10 with late 60's BOAC interior, standard to both the 10 and the 707

This tasteful ad may have been made all but fifty years ago but it is still years ahead of the present amateurish TV advertising scene here in Australia. I would want this ad to constantly interrupt a favourite late night movie.

Hi - just wanted to ask: is this the same Ron Fink who used to work at Sierra Academy of Aeronautics in Oakland CA, as an instructor on the FE727 course?
@BARon21926 жыл бұрын
Sorry no, I worked for BCAL then BA at DFW.
@xetalq6 жыл бұрын
Thanks - yours is a fairly unusual name, so I hope you'll please pardon my mistake as understandable?

Love it! Really a terrible ad though! What is it about British airlines and bad ads. Remember the BCal "I wish they all could be Caledonian" ad - painful
