In 1969, Bob Boyette of Asbury Park, New Jersey ordered a very special Z/28 Camaro. Today, the car has been tediously restored to its original condition and is now on display here at Stingray Chevrolet.
The documentary tells what makes this Camaro so special while diving into the incredible detail of it’s restoration.

What a special episode!! Enjoyed hearing all about the Camaro, a great car history lesson. His fastest speed was 145 that is really getting on it. I have riden at 140 and what a thrill that was, I can only imagine how he felt. Good interview!!!

Terrific video ! I was 6 years old when this car was built. I became a car fanatic when I was very very young here in Utah. I grew up in the best times for cars I’m building a 92 camaro now This is a wonderful story about this car !!!

I was 6 years old when Bob (the original purchaser of the car) ripped my front wheel off my go-kart when we were racing... lol I know him personally (he's a good friend of my dad's) and I work on his BMWs for him. He has another '69 Z that he's been working on restoring atm... The car in this vid was the inspiration for it... I can tell he REALLY misses that car

Beautiful car. I'm restoring one very similar, also a Fathom Green 1969 Z28. I don't think mine will ever be a show car with all the little stickers and inspectors marks, but hopefully it'll look good enough rolling down the road to turn a few heads.

Excellent presentation. Thank you. That said, almost always when you see a very low production volume and "uncommon" option, it is because (unless incredibly expensive) nobody wanted it. A Big Mac with fish sauce, anchovy paste and tartar sauce might be incredibly rare in the USA but it is not because it is special, nobody asked for it to be made. This is especially true when it comes to auto colors and trim options. Titty Pink and Rectum brown colored 55 Chevy's are rare for a reason.

I owned a '69 COPO Camaro decades ago. One day I got a phone call from the latest owner wanting me to verify it and bring any photos. He was in a city just an hour away, and I said I would be there the next day. I was excited to have the chance to see the car again, as I always wondered where it was. When I got there, the owner drove me to the shop that was restoring it. As soon as I saw it, I got quiet. I walked over and patted it on the roof and just reminisced. It wasn't about the value of the car, and I'm not going to whine about how I shouldn't have let that one get away. I sold it long before the prices got stupid on these cars. It was about the memories I made with the car. I bought it when I was 22, for 3 grand. I ran it hard, had fun dates in it, and enjoyed a few car shows and many drag races on country roads. The car was a part of my life, a friend before adulthood got hectic. I just needed a few moments alone with my old buddy... I'm satisfied that the car is in good hands now and recently sold in the six figure price range, but I can guarantee you I got a lot more bang for my buck and had more fun than any of the future owners will of that car.
