Complete Restoration/Remaster of the 5th Game of the 1969 World Series recorded and Digitalized off two pre recorded DVDs for the most complete and best quality I could find and a original VHS recording of the 1969 Mets retrospective documentary The Greatest Season recorded off MetroTV a MSG sister channel at the time 1999. Original NBC Broadcast with Curt Gowdy and Lindsay Nelson (raw network footage) no breaks to commercial etc from Shea Stadium.
Complete color correction and frame rates and a new audio track added/restored in post production through Macrovision.
Dave McNally and Jerry Koosman are your starters in this historic World Series as the Mets have the 3-1 game lead and looking to wrap things up to become the World Champions as Koosman pitches a complete game allowing 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out 5 and walking only 1.
Dave McNally pitches a great game (and hits a HR off Koosman in the 3rd inning to give the Orioles the lead) in the losing effort for Baltimore going 7 innings allowing 3 runs on 5 hits and is replaced by Eddie Watt in the 8th.
Hitting stars of the Game Donn Clendenon (MVP) hits his 3rd HR of the post season with a man on in the 6th inning. Al Weis continues to contribute with the bat hitting his 1st HR of the series in the left field bullpen. Ron Swoboda goes 2 for 4 with an RBI. Star of the entire series goes to Mets Manager Gil Hodges with this game famous for the shoe polish play and just his leadership help lead the way to the Mets 1969 World Championship.
Includes NBC pre Game Show World Series REPORT with Jim Simpson, Sandy Koufax and Mickey Mantle

This is why some players take performance-enhancing drugs (such as steroids and HGH)...If the ball hit by Davey Johnson went over the fence instead of being caught by Cleon Jones, the game would have been tied and you never know what would have happened. The Orioles might have won the game and the World Series...you never know.

I was in the stands for that game (14 years old). My dad’s company scored some playoff and series tickets because they were suppliers to the concessionaire at Shea Stadium. It was an incredible baseball experience for a teen age boy.

What an amazing pre-game. Three of the greatest players to ever play the game, Sandy Koufax, Mickey Mantle and Joe DiMaggio. Then to be topped off by the game itself!

I experienced this game while sitting in George Washington Elementary School, Peekskill, NY, Mr. Cosgrove's 5th grade class. He listened to the entire game in his earbud, transistor radio . . . The part of class when they played the game was of course lost . . . but I remember the "experience" vividly, obviously.

The pregame with Mickey Mantle, Sandy Koufax and Jim Simpson was awesome. Mickey at his best. Don’t know why he didn’t pursue a full time gig as a commentator on the games. His ability to tell a story is second to none. Where has the time gone?

This is the way the game should be played. No ghost runners during extra innings, no enlarged bases, no time clocks on either the pitcher or the hitter, no analytics, separate leagues, and best of all no designated hitters.

Did anyone notice no names on back of Mets uniforms and no pinstripes. I was only 8 then and not old enough to appreciate the game. A close friend who was 10 at the time went with his family to see Braves vs Mets at Shea for NL playoff game. He was from Tennessee and a Braves fan. We swept Braves in that series. 69 Mets would trounce 2023 version. Sad!
