Reminds me of the orange engine in my 69 charger, duel exhaust , With Trish glass packs that ended , even with the back of the doors ! It had a crane racing cam installed, 3.55 rear gear, 757 on the counsel, buckskin bucket seats, boy did she sound and run even better, I was 16 yrs old, first I drag raced it , at the stop lights, headed south on Blackhawk Blvd , south Beloit IL , a 73 red and black 455 SD , him and his friends were laughing as he smoked the tires , as we waited for the green light, my leg was shaken like leaf, I thought I was toast, when the green hit , off we went, I couldn't see him, he was like 10 car links back, so I let off, and as I did he, went by ! I punched again and went by him with ease ! That dodge made me so proud, what a car , thnx for the memory Nick !!!

Nick, as perfect as Vanishing Point is, I am still in love with the idea of a Hemi under the hood! If the number matching 440 is going on display anyway, and the current motor is a just test bed, why not go the ultimate distance for the Challenger and Hemi power plant built by Nick’s Garage? It would be breathtaking! Merci, mon ami…

Dick Daily - I agree - with the number matching 440 on a display stand, the car would be even more fun with a hemi under the hood. Nick's "Keeper" 426 Hemi was supposed to go in this, but Nick sold his elephant engine to one of his customers. The car is amazing either way, though. The 440 HP is no slouch.

But that would not give them the extra content they will need in the up coming months. Why not restore another car ? Like a plumb crazy HEMI CUDA ? That would be worth the cost as the content would last for at least two years.
@dickdaley9059
@dickdaley9059 3 жыл бұрын
I can understand the “Keeper” being sold for big bucks to offset the incremental cost of a restoration. There are more Hemi engines out there than U model, number matching Challengers. Content is a fleeting mistress to these creators as the eyeballs will vary with every video. Nick has the influence with his audience to explain his plan, record the search for the engine, bring it back to the garage and begin the rebuild step by step with factory precision. The original 440 is sitting quietly in the shop under cover now. Just switch the focus to the Hemi instead. I would be glued to the channel. Besides, what does Nick excel at and enjoy doing most of all?

That sounds and looks like a very sweet ride! My dream car, since I saw American Graffiti, is an Arctic White '57 T-Bird. I'll never live long enough to get one. My Prius is broke bad and I'm still working on it as often as I can. I got sick today before I could go out and retrieve my dead 12v battery. I rebuilt the Main Battery and verified it is good. Exchanged the Inverter/Converter, Master Cylinder, AC Compressor, tested the start-up contactors and relay, Resister. Everything in regard to the Main Battery is perfect. I still get the same message as before: Check the Hybrid Charging System,pull over into a safe place. I checked the oil, cooling system, and the 12dc provided by the convertor, and the output from the Main Battery under the hood. So no wires are shorted or opened. I will have a professional code reader on Tuesday and see if it helps with resetting some less important errors. I don't know, if the 201.6 vdc is under the hood, then the fuse in the maintenance block is also good. All of the output voltages from the inverter is correct. Yet the I.C.E. refuses to start. IDK. I am extremely happy that you have your dream car, and it doesn't stutt t t e r ... Anymore. Lol...

Looks like there’s something up with the tail lights. The right side bulbs shine through the lens. Could just be a camera angle thing. Nick would care about that. I wouldn’t. Great episode. No one around but nick ! Lol.

Beautiful Challenger there Nick, i can see you LOVE it, i will be 66 in a few months and remember when those 'muscle' cars roamed the streets, not as fast and dont handle like the new ones but they need to be compared to others from that day not cars 50 years newer. Nice to see you have some fun with it once in a while

The movie “Vanishing Point” is one of my favorites, as the Dodge Challenger may be my favorite car. I have watched that movie numerous times, and I have the DVD handy just in case. I always wanted one of the earlier Challengers like your 1970, but instead after buying many Ford Mustangs over the years after watching the movie “Bullitt” finally bought a new 2019 Challenger GT with a V6, 8 speed automatic and 305 HP. Absolutely love the car, its performance, all the modern conveniences, and the way it handles. It is beauty in motion, and gets great gas mileage on the highway. Kowalski would be jealous! Dodge, you rock!!! Thank you Nick for this great video, and enjoy that beautiful car!

Wow Nick, that's the most awesome Challenger i've ever seen plus it's a "Kowalski" version doubling the coolness factor! I love how every detail is loyal to the movie car. I did notice that the left rear driver side tire seemed out of balance, maybe check it. I love it and you deserve it for all your hard work and dedication. Thanks for sharing this amazing car with us!

I still remember the pistol grip shifter in my brother's ol' '69 Superbee...it was perfect. Never found another shifter that even came close to be so done. Not even in the OTR trucks I drove or any other vehicle with a manual trans. Thank you for building the Challenger as it is my fav style of those cars from that time period. It still looks great even today and it never ages.

Sweet ride Nick. I just acquired an 81 G body Monte Carlo to make a toy out of. Already have a real 400 sb bored .040 over with aluminum heads and intake. 10 to 1 forged. Steel crank. And a real original dual line 750 Holley to feed it. Keep em going. 👍

Nick I think every gear head has his dream car. For me mine is a 1970 1/2 Camaro with a 350/300Hp 4 speed with a Hurst shifter and Cranberry red. I bought this car new . It is literally my dream car. I have had at least 15 dreams of it. I would be ether finding my original and restoring it or finding a car to make a clone of it . I know at 70 years old l will never have it . But I am very glad Nick you have yours.

Nick's Garage Every Monday is on the cards This week Nick is talking carbs Nick's 70 Challenger is tip top in the alpine white it's the cream of the crop A tribute to the movie Vanishing point and testament to the quality of work in Nick's joint It's Nicks dream car but with a hesitant carb it won't get very far so Nick is taking the time to make it run fine so the power delivery will be sublime Not to have it run perfect would be a crime

Oh, how i miss my 70 roadrunner 383 pistol grip. I bought a 426 wedge to drop in it. Basket case. But i was buying a billet crank out of a top fuel funny car. Insanity out of Hayward California. It was spinning bearings at 10k rpms. I wasn't planning to go anywhere near 10k. I helped the driver/mechanic put the (Insanity, Corvette body style) Hemi together before they hauled it to Canada and ran the 1st under 6 second run ever recorded The board flashed 5.82 , then it went blank. Came back up with 6.02. They screwed him out of the record. Things you never forget! Love your channel and your Challenger. Cheers

I was 13yrs. old when Vanishing Point came out in March of '71, went to the theater on a Saturday afternoon to see it and they let me in despite the "R" rating and sat through it twice that day! Loved the movie and the car the only sadness was the ending, was glad to find out later that they used a Camaro for the crash scene!! Great job on Kowalski Nick thanks for the video's!!!
