1970's Time Capsule Abandoned General Store

Located within the vast farmlands of Northern Virginia sits in an abandoned General store that is an absolutely incredible location. This Virginia general store is literally a complete time capsule where you can take a step back into time, almost as if you had just time traveled back to the 1970s. The store also took us back to a period in time when small family owned “mom and pop” stores were how most people got stuff; long before the corporate chains ruled the world.
The store closed sometime in the late 1970s and was basically forgotten about. The old outdated vintage items left behind, such as the packs of cigarettes, orange candy slices, and antique Coca Cola bottles, made this time capsule location a very fun, interesting, and nostalgic explore.
For more photographs of the general store, as well as our other abandon locations, go to abandoncentral.com.

I was born in the early 60's, and I remember a lot of those brands of cigarettes. Back in the early 70's we would have a note from our mom to get her a pack of Chesterfield 101 cigarettes from the corner store, we would walk over a mile through the woods to do it. In return we got .20 cents and that was enough to share a full size candy bar, or get 20 pieces of 2@ .01 cent candy AND a bottle of Nehi pop. I loved this video, I can still smell the little bottle of toothache medicine! Thank you for taking the time to look around, you made this old lady's day!

For all that to be left makes me think the owner(s) died and no one was left to clean the place out or take over. I'm glad to see an untouched time capsule like this but it surprises me that locals wouldn't have realized it was closed back in the last 70's and broke in and stole all those goodies while they were still good lol Great vid bro

Brewer's yeast is a source of B vitamins and protein. It also contains chromium, which might help the body use insulin better and lower blood sugar levels. Brewer's yeast also seems to increase enzymes in the stomach that could relieve diarrhea and improve the body's defense against viral infections like the flu Above is copy and paste for general info. I also give it to my dogs to help prevent fleas

Many years back someone broke into an abandoned store like this and was selling everything that was still useful on the dirt cheap to the local farm community. I remember because I saw some really old-fashioned lettering on a bar of soap and looked it up on my school's internet when I got home...Dial soap, made around 30 years ago at the time.

Yeah all the food and medicine and soda and candy going to rot legit makes me mad. At this point about all that's still useful is the bars of soap and the odd nonperishable things like pencil leads, and who the F uses those anymore?. (maybe the tobacco is good? IDK if it really 'spoils' per se I don't smoke) I'm gonna guess this is what happened: ---The mom & pop who ran it suddenly died or had a bad stroke or moved to a nursing home and their kid(s) didn't know they ran it or want to bother about it in any way. ---Utility companies eventually turned off or disconnect for non payment, that's the end of their giving a F about the store. ---Meanwhile the courts or banks never repossess the property for taxes or loans outstanding because changing economics has made the store not even worth the effort to take over.

With small stores like this, what often happened is that one or both of the old owners suddenly is hospitalized/dies/has a HUGE stroke and forgets their own name let alone the fact they own a store. None of the kids is nearby to take over running it if they even care about doing so. Electric/gas/water utilities get shut off at the street connection or outside valve for nonpayment. When the IRS or the bank comes in for nonpayment on taxes/loans they find out that it's not worth repossessing because of changing local economies or just because the building needs a ton of renovation just to bring up to code.
