That is simply amazing... what a watch! Better than all the Rolex that's typically on every dork's wrist today, well this has an elegance to it that is unsurpassed. I've never seen such a dial combo, it's quite a rare find in my eyes. How much did you get it for?

I'd love one of those! That Pogue dial is pretty cool, but I'd be just as happy with the blue.

VinceFull is correct, that's why the dial is marked in orange to match the second hand. You can calculate speed based on time with it, over a known distance.

Austin, what say you about the Alpinist being discontinued. It has a lot of good features compared to other Seiko watches. I bought mine several years ago. But prices seem to vary greatly from one place to another.

I didn't know that! I've always liked the Alpinist. I remember seeing a green dialed one in a second hand shop, and thought about getting it. I like that compass complication, but in reality never use a compass. But that could be a great watch to have you your wrist if your airplane goes down in the woods and you're the sole survivor! I do wonder why it's being discontinued...but I guess it's just a reflection of lack of sales. Makes me want one a little more now.

What’s the power reserve with the chrono hand running vs not running?

Back when I wasn't running the chrono hand it was a tad over 40 hours (I think). I haven't let it run down since then.

The watch makes total sense. It's called "Speed timer", that's why it has a tachemeter scale and a slow seconds hand. To gauge the speed of objects. Also you got your mechanics mixed up. The clutch engages when the Chrono starts, and disengages when it stops. And with a lateral clutch, it's generally a bad idea to leave it running constantly.

Same function as an Omega Chronostop. I suppose sourcing an original bracelet would be problematic. Nice watch.

If you line up the seconds hand with the hour hand and stop it, you can use it as a 12 hour timer. Google spencer Klein and ask him about running or not, he is an expert. He has a KZfaq channel.

Running it is what you want to do, otherwise it wears out the clutch.
