Its like watching a completely different game. Game is played at a slower pace not helped by the surface, the ball is heavier and its much more physical. A game played by British players with anyone who wanted to able to get in and stand on the terraces. Id take this any day of the week over the modern game.

Well this may be 50 plus years ago but I remember that season and it's infinitely preferable to todays' stuff..

Great game. When footballers were revered & were tough with it. Ipswich were in transition, Liverpool were in the F A Cup final that year, against the Arsenal. Terrific.😊

30.40... rare embraces between T.Smith & E.Hughes , Smith hold a grudge against Hughes for taking his captaincy away ! But I loved them both , both had given blood , sweat & grit for LFC . YNWA

Always liked Gerald Sindstad’s commentary. This was Sunday late morning when I was a kid.

Classic Matches, Thanks for providing this highlights show well presented by Gerald Sinstadt who is a very perceptive commentator. Tough first-half at Anfield caused it has to be said by very rough play by Ipswich defenders, particularly Jefferson. Good performances though by Heighway and Keegan. Also good game at West Brom as Leeds pushing Liverpool all the way for the title.

If it was Ursula Andress, 40 seconds was probably all he would need 😂

I am an Ipswich fan and enjoyed this although you knew what was going to happen at Anfield in the 1970s. I do not share nostalgia of other people for the good old days. The game is much better now imo

I can recommend Tommy Smith's autobiography if anyone is interested about this period

Anyone notice Keegan's nasty challenge on Morris, seconds before the booking.

Interesting that Liverpool decided to use an orange ball for the match. Quite a rarity, even back in the day. Clearly, Granada's coverage was functional and no-nonsense - why else would you call your football programme simply "Football"? I'm guessing Kick Off was a few years away, along with that fantastic Francis Monkman theme tune.

Liverpool quite often played with an orange ball for home games , as did Wolves .

This is very similar to a modern league one game

Probably League Two. I have been watching games since 1968 and the standard is so much higher. The players are far stronger and fitter, they are better technically and far more sophisticated tactically. Older people often think the game less physical. I think it is more so because of the relentless pressing.

Tinkler was useless… as he had already proven at Elland Road 😡😡
