After placing the rope in place, run a small bead of windshield caulk on top of the rope to better ensure a seal to the glass.
@JohnCarey1963Jag8 жыл бұрын
Job well done Mark. The glass really makes the body shape come together doesn't it?

For channels and metal work What do you use to seal the channel? epoxy paint clear then urethane primer before the windshield install? I heard 3m panel adhesive brush on over new metal? please help the process for me.thanks. 1970 nova

Hi there, how the seal work so far ?and do you have a video from the front windshield? I attend to install mine in the next few weeks and will use the same kind of tape you used. Many thanks
@fatstercat3 жыл бұрын
still tight don't believe I did a front windshield video. All I can say is measure twice make sure your blocks that are provided are where they belong and TAKE YOUR TIME . Once that glass touches the butyl seal game over you are not moving it . good luck

Nice job....but I think you forgot to use primer , if there is no primer under the ribbon it will not adhere to the window frame very well....
@fatstercat5 жыл бұрын
Been on since install has not had any issues or leaks
@scurge19715 жыл бұрын
Good to hear...must of had a clean frame...I have the same year charger and mine leaked after a few months. ( granted my car wasn't taken as good of care of )

Looks great! It's gonna be a while for me, but my question is, did you have to use any of the aftermarket trim stud?
@fatstercat8 жыл бұрын
I actually rewelded some new trim studs on with my trim rivet kit ..I had to modify my stud welder to get the rivets centered in the channel I do have a vid on it a ways back
@ceooflynx78986 жыл бұрын
I just ordered the after market trim studs on e-bay, only 5.99 no shipping cost.

on my ford, the factory maint. manual from 67 says to lay 50lbs. of sand bags on the rear glass for 24 hours after setting the rear glass
@fatstercat8 жыл бұрын
I think the butyl seal is 5/16" and any further compression the trim will not fit properly...... thanks man
@onion79852 жыл бұрын
What was the vertical depth of the glass below the body line when you were done? I think mine has too much of a recess causing a gap between the trim and glass. I used only urethane bead (no rope tape), so thinking that’s my problem. What’s the thickness of the tape you used?
@fatstercat2 жыл бұрын
5/16" thick
@ceooflynx78986 жыл бұрын
hey Mark, quick question for you. I have new quarters on my 69 Camaro and have to add the clips back on for the trim. Can you tell me how many of these you need around the back window? I would guess the # would be the same on both years. thanks Jeff aks Steeljaw Also, what size are the two blocks the window is sitting on at the bottom during installation? thanks....
@fatstercat6 жыл бұрын
I do believe the the blocks were 5/16" s and I found this link that might help you out goo.gl/images/NSA3Ja

Yeah doesn't look that hard but you made it look easy my buddy did his and let me tell yeah he was off a tad and tried to pick the one up just a little well that window strip said screw you and cracked the corner of the glass that shit is strong lets just say the second time was a charm lol Nice job buddy!!
@fatstercat8 жыл бұрын
pretty straight forward but yes you have to trial fit your window and get your witness marks cause once it touches it's all over but the crying .....peace !!!
