This program is a dream come true! Although I love the other content, this takes the prize. A deeper understanding of the past and the path to progress makes the “magical place” that much more “magical”. Thanks for your work on this Tom!

And Roy barely lived much after opening. He really put his last hurrah into finishing his brother’s dream. So poignant. Thanks Roy and Edna.

1971 was the year we moved away from the L.A. area, and stopped going regularly to Disneyland after going the first time in 1961, when my younger sister was six months old, so sometime in December. We'd watched the Wonderful World of Color and predecessor shows with envy for the NY World's Fair and Disneyworld, but enjoyed our 10 years of going to the park in Los Angeles. I love your presentation, and would, of course, love to see the equivalent for Disneyland. I didn't return to the Disney parks until 1984, finally making it to Disneyworld in 1996 with my youngest daughter. Your history videos are wonderful.

I am not upset; I just find it interesting. I was just doing the math in my head of our family going to Disney if we could back in 1971 verses now and doing the SAME things. I even added in Fort Wilderness 1971 tent camping costs at $11 Per Night verses the current price we recently paid and that was over $111 for a place to put our tent. Our family of 6 spends $3,000 to do what used to cost under $30 for the "same" thing. Oh my!!! I figured two days where we camp and do Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan, Carousel, ect. I was being very realistic. I bet the food was more reasonably priced too, our favorite place to eat is at the Polynesian, I am not sure what they had back then that might have been comparable if anything at all was and thus you just had different expectations (10 cent popcorn and a packed lunch). This is not inflation, it's supply and demand. As long as people are willing to pay 3.50 for a water bottle or $99 for a dessert party, they will be sold 3.50 for a water bottle and $99 for a dessert party that just years before was less than $20. Disney NEEDS to price people OUT! Again, basic supply and demand, Disney can't afford to double their "production" and devalue their "product." 2008 had some pretty magical prices, that's because most people couldn't afford to spend more than how it was priced, so it was priced cheaper as people were equally poor, and most still couldn't go, the value rose, and the price fell. Now it's climbing, but, it might not be doing so in their best intrest. They need to be very careful that they can continue to sell their product of childhood "nostalga" and based off the "sacristy" of truly magical experiences, however, if they move the direction of pure snob appeal, they will lose their market. Those who can afford princess-like treatment and a stay at a castle simply do that and not need Disney. Disney can place themselves at risk of losing their market, especially, if there is another market crash and they don't drop prices FAST while also providing more and not less. Disney giving more doesn't need to mean more money lost by them, there are ways, such as the Disney meal plans, that actually benefited both parties mutually in people spending more to get more than they otherwise wouldn't have considered. But that's going to far down this rabbit trail. : )

I remember when most of the attactions were still being built and most of the park was incomplete , we had to return at a later year it was so overcrowded and still under construction 😢 well it still was worth the trip ,we got to really see alot that most people did not even know about😅 and did not get to see. Refurbishmemt of the attractions were allways happening the best thing I saw being built was Space Mountain and the Thunder Mountain Railroad Roller Coaster later on .We kept going back through the years and kept getting added to the park ,God knows how much I miss these times and changes I hope I could still keep going back but for now I will have to wait , maybe those times will come back just have to take little longer than expected😮😅

$3.50 for a Park Admission & even with the coins ride tickets . . . Sigh. I remember Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride & Snow White’s Adventures. They scared me as much as Haunted Mansion as a kid.

Love the information Tom! You brought back memories of shops and attractions I have not thought about for many years. I remember the open land where the Grand Floridian, and Splash Mountain, set today. I do miss the Skybuckets, Dreamflight, and the Fort Wilderness Campground railway (and the prices). Keep up the great work!
