I was at that incredible match. It's wonderful to see Hector's goal again and relive that night. Thank you KZfaq. Like the Beatles this proves how great those times actually were!

I don't even remember this match and yet I was a fan after seeing them play Pompey at Fratton park. What a great team of hard working players... and those white boots!

I was in the Ley Stand watching with my Father, I saw the first global superstar in Eusebio but Colin Todd marked him out of the game. It was a magical night indeed

I think that Pele was probably the first global superstar player. Eusebio just came afterwards. Wonderful footballer.

Division 1 had outstanding teams and outstanding players. Derby where champions twice, no mean feet. As for Brian Clough, a total indervidualist and one off, his record is outstanding. ... League Champions -Derby County 1971-72 League Champions - Nottingham Forest- 1977-78 League Cup. x 4 winners European Cup winners ×2 1978-79 1979-80 FA Cup runners up.1991. I rest my case......

@@thepublichousebrandcom Yes cheated by the bung taking referee, and proved to be fact in the subsequent years after. I really think Derby could have beaten Ajax in the final to become the second English club to win the European Cup. Wasn't to be though.

My teacher in Ilkeston in 1975 - had a cine film of this match - or maybe the highlights, cant recall. He showed it at a special evening event at the school and there was at least 100 watching. Dont think there was any sound!

The founder of macdonalds was a Derby fan and it was after watching this match that he renamed the Mac burger THE BIG MAC BURGER after seeing the class performance by BIG ROY MCFARLAND. He also tried to market an ARSEHOLE BURGER as a tribute to Forest fans but it proved to be as unpopular as their team.

FA Hierarchy was so stupid and short-sighted for not allowing Brian Clough to become England's Manager in the 1970s and 1980s costing a few generations of players to keep missing out on the big prizes. The football that Derby County and later on Nottingham Forest were playing were absolutely magnificent. I grew up during that time in London as a Man Utd fan (and still am), always wondering how my team couldn't have a great manager like him until they hired Sir Alex Ferguson.

This Benfica was not the Benfica conquering Europe in the early 60s. Only Eusebio and Simoes remained in this Benfica team.
@dzemilmehovic5271 Жыл бұрын
It was still strong af. Season before this they were more than a match for Ajax and only team that went toe to toe with them and ppl even say Benfica shouldve had a pen in Lisbon and shouldve gone through to face Inter in the final. They were still one of best teams

I watched John o hare playing at Sunderland ,mr Clough if I remember rightly was youth team manager after having to retire with injury ,he had considerable success as a youth team manager and the vacant managers job for Sunderland came up ,but he was never considered even though he desperately wanted the job ,Disastrous descision, also interestingly Mr Clough signed John o hare and Colin Todd from Sunderland.

When there was no passing sideways for the sake of it and if you lost the ball you just won it back. The premier league has gone boring. Too tactical. Derby back then were an excellent team
