This video analyzes the Round 10 game of the World Chess Championship match of 1972 between Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky. A slow strategical struggle shows itself in the middlegame with both players fighting in the center. One specific pawn advance by black sets off a chain reaction of exchanges, resulting in an unbalanced endgame.

Jerry you did it again! I love how you explain the ideas behind the different opening variations. Being a player who frequently plays the ruy lopez i did in fact know the moves, but not all of the ideas behind it and not how to exploit some of the possible mistakes - as they did not occur in the top level games i watched. Thanks a lot!

Thorough and well presented analysis of the Ruy Lopez. I'm 60yo, and I wonder what my life would have been like if I would have watched this lesson, and lessons like this on various other subjects, like math, science, business, art, music, mechanics, and etc.. This is a glimpse of a revolution in education that is taking place in accelerating the evolution of the species. Cue in "Thus Spoke Zarathustra"

I have a question. After Spassky plays d6, why isn't Fischer afraid of Bg4 before castling and thus would have played h3 before he played c3 to prevent that? This is a great video on the Ruy Lopez (C95), mad props.
