Well, all I know is this....if the guy was that rich? Why doesn't his help go to the mail box? If he was that rich? why is he driving his own car? Just saying, you know?

I think the depiction of luxury was an extension of the previous 510 commercial that they compared with Mercedes side by side for having fully independent suspension and disk brakes. Fuel door release and rear defogger were invented by a Nissan vehicle test engineer during the preparation of the Montecarlo Rally in the early 70's. The engineer became the head of NISMO later in his career.

We all need to return to small fuel efficient cars and trucks like this Datsun/Nissan car and 521 and 620 series trucks that were once made, that needs manufactured once again.

So "luxury" means vinyl bucket seats, carpet, and a rear defroster? Ooooooo, aahhhhhh!!! Entertaining to watch, tho. Thanks for posting.

It was during the 70s.

@@jlh4jc It was, but only for Japanese cars. Vinyl seats in American cars were the baseline. Cloth or velour seats were an upgrade, then leather. The only car we had that didn't have carpet as standard was a pickup truck. But yeah, rear defrosters took a while to go mainstream.

Datsun really should have put a middle class man in this instead of a guy with a mansion

I have to tell you, I've watched this commercial a few times and I actually think the guys voice is dubbed. I'm thinking after they did the commercial, they weren't happy with the actors voice........in some spots it seems out of sync, but then in other spots it seems okay........so it's not a result of the conversion to electronic process, I think it's a dubbed voice.
