It looks nice. Oxford Diecast in England still make quality diecast toy cars, but not in large quantities for sale, more limited production runs. I just wish matchbox wasn’t sold to Mattel, because when matchbox declared bankruptcy, it wasn’t because they couldn’t manufacture quality toys, it was because the economic climate back then in the late 70s, early 80s was dismal in the U.K., and the cost to manufacture these toy cars wasn’t sustainable. I’m 51 now, but I had loads of these matchbox toys, when I was growing up, which my mum later donated to the children’s hospital nearby. Now, I’m reminiscing about matchbox on KZfaq and I’m tempted to start collecting them. I had Corgi as well, which is another great toy brand from England. Now owned by Hornby. I grew up when most of my toys were made in England or GT. Britain or Hong Kong, when it was governed by the U.K… And I had toys made in France and the U.S.A. As well. Whatever happened to our manufacturing, now most things are made in China.

Hi i had one as a kid and there were a bull dozer that came with it on the trailer, the dozer was red with yellow blade and a yellow hook on the back with real rubber tracks that worked.

@@richardunicorn7879 While the truck is long gone I still have the bulldozer minus the separate casting for the cab. I wound up repainting it in a drab green with plastic Games Workshop tank tread sections to make a wargame piece. I recently found it in a parts box with the treads missing so I may source out at least the treads and bring it back to its original looks at some point this summer.

Great find. Looks in excellent condition for a 45 year old diecast. Good paint, straight axles etc. You could restore the winch unit. There are suitable hooks available and a thin black cord onto the drum. A load can then be winched onto the trailer bed.

I have a complete one. Yours is missing it's bulldozer with rubber tracks and the hook and rope that goes on the winch on the back of the Low Boy to hook the Dozer on and reel it onto the trailer.

The prime mover and paint job on the pre-SuperKing era tractor and trailer was a red cab with yellow saddle tanks that were molded onto the fifth wheel and hinged. If you lifted that tanks up it would unhitch the trailer. The trailer itself was either a dark green or red, I really can't remember which it was since the last time I saw those two items was about the time I was about eleven or twelve. I had several Super King truck sets as a kid and at nearly 60 years of age, things seem to merge together. I do remember that the trailer was all one piece that didn't come apart or have that huge winch on the rear deck, that was something they did after they converted the axels to the Superfast/Hot Wheels type of spring wire and low friction bushinged wheels.

Very nice too I actually drove a real one and if I remember correctly it had a twelve speed fuller gearbox, but not with a low loader trailer, that's what they are called in the UK, they are used for heavy machinery. That u shape thing as you call it is a fifth wheel coupling

Thanks for the info. I was feeling a bit tired as I did that video and my brain wasn't working when I was talking about the fifth wheel coupling. I feel kind of dumb for saying 'u shape thing'. Thanks for watching.

I would strongly recommend replacing the blade in your knife. A sharp blade would have easily sliced through the cardboard. More folks get cut using a dull blade than a sharp one.

The truck was generic I remember them in a nice red colour too, They were used for tankers, container trailers with two 20” containers on them and of course the low loader. I am sure the winch had a metal hook on the end of the string too.
@TheMasterNo64 жыл бұрын
Not generic, it was based on the real Scammel truck of the time.

Very nice indeed! The lovely Scammell Crusader, it was fitted with a version of the Motor Panels Cab, made in Coventry, that was sadly horribly rust prone! King is the manufacturer of the trailer. Some further information you might find of interest: www.scammell-crusader.co.uk/info.html

I also liked the blue ford pickup, is that also made by lesney?
@richardunicorn78795 жыл бұрын
No. The Ford pick up is made by Greenlight. It is the original Big Foot Monster Truck. It is a hobby exclusive and you can find it on eBay if you are looking for one yourself. Thanks for watching and have a great day.
