An annual event at US-131 Dragway in Martin, Michigan, this year's event drew a stellar top fuel field and some popular funny cars as well. Some nice twilight flame shots and a blowover to start the next day.

Long smoky burnouts and dry hops, best era of drag racing of all times.

This is awesome. I went to a bunch of shows at US 131 from 75 to 85. PHR was the highlight of the year for me.

Jim Bucher in The SSP Special. BBC top fuel dragster. Bad wreck here around 7:32.

That was Paul Longenecker who did the backflip. Bucher was in the other lane.

Not just a back flip but 3 pirouettes. Even the Russian judges gave him a perfect 10!

Was gonna say something about "No Snake, No Goose, Not legit" Then 7:32 happened 😳!! Plus, anything with Jungle Pam in it is absolutely legit 🤤 74 Manufacturer's Funny car meet at OCIR, I'm 13 & standing in line at the pit concession stand for a dog & coke, when I turn around and there's Jungle Pam in line next to me! 😳!! She See's my 13yr old goofyass staring at her, she smile's & wink's at me!! 😰 I damn near fainted!! Buddy let me tell ya, that was a lotta Woman 😉

Push starting a top fuel dragsters a lot of young people middle-aged people from today probably never even seen it done before that's old school

It gave people a better chance to see the cars at the tracks where we had to push down from the top end, although it did take a lot of extra time. Also added a bit of drama -- part of the show.

Thanks, what memories at only 11 years old "I was there" with my parents BB/FC and into the 80's when I ran "bracket bikes". The stands behind the starting line where the rowdiest late night during circuit races! 1970's when the stands where packed!

Glad you enjoyed it. Actually, the only reason I was there that day was because we had had a serious engine failure on the B/FD that we had been struggling with, so I had nothing to do for a while and rode my motorcycle over there (from Pontiac) for the weekend. We switched to a big-block Chevy and ran A/FD the next year with a lot more success!

OK so your last need is Bohl so you guys were a part of the Williams and Bohl alky funny? If so I really liked that car. The 77 Vega was top notch.

@@timothyturner2165 Yes, Marlis Williams has passed on but my dad Dave Bohl will appreciate your comment, (as well I do) thanks.

Love it!!...why is there never sound?😞
@gordonwd3 жыл бұрын
Sound was not available on old home movie cameras or projectors. This was well before the VHS camcorder era!
