My first car was a yellow1973 VW Sports Bug just like this one. I bought it when I was a senior in high school. Even though it had many mechanical issues, I really enjoyed driving it!

I rarely see VWs on the road these days. Back in the 80s, in Missoula, MT, there was a company that sold reconditioned/restored Volkswagen Beetles. They were badged Golden Beetle and each car came with a warranty.

LOL the way it was barely running when it came into the garage reminds me of the scene in the movie Christine where the car comes back and it is barely running barely creeping its way into the garage

Sport Bug & Sun Bug with sunroof are my two favorite Limited Edition Volkswagen Super Beetle models. A close third is the La Grande Super Beetle limited edition. Congrats DubWerks on this fine acquisition Limited Edition Sport Bug ! The banter between you and Jason is refreshing ! To see the support Jason gives you is quite stellar ! Just need to involve Josh into this mix and get his humor as part of the conversation ! My own search is for a 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle with sunroof. Am one who actually likes the bigger bumpers and the new front bucket seat style of the 1974 model - pre fuel injection. Am planning on going to Pasco county FL/Dade City fairgrounds for a classic Volkswagen air-cooled event November 13th ! There is just something about the sound of an air-cooled Volkswagen motor that is intoxicatiing - no mistaking that sound ! Slainte' ! Cheers !

I bought a 74 super brand new back in the day. Paid, I think, $3400. Great car, but it was kind of a bobber with the front struts. Steering damper went out too.

I had a '73 SB in early '90. Put $452 in the motor. The motor is still going. The car got cut up and dismantled for another SB.

I've owned a lot of Volkswagens in my time a lot maybe not as many as you what cylinders not firing or is bad I drove a Volkswagen van once on three cylinders down to Florida from Ohio and back that bug is not running correctly

Well, again…it’s just me. IMO. I would pull that out, and start from scratch. Who knows what lies inside? Chrome J tubes, wacky exhaust, no rear breastplate, open fan shroud holes….probably no thermostat. Is a dead giveaway to someone who didn’t have a clue how these engines operated. And running that engine like that, for any length of time. Is of course a death sentence. But who am I … Just my opinion. Cool car though. And a rare accessory still working. The door buzzer. Does it still have the light under the ashtray, illuminating the heater knobs?

Oh just a heads up, wear gloves when messing with old oil etc, that shit is bad for you 😑
