When I do cold starts, I’ll crank for about 10-12 seconds and then WAIT about 15 seconds before cranking again. The wait time let’s the heat generated (from the first crank session) soak in a bit - and I think it helps get things going sooner.

Do you have a 7000 series? I sure like my 7050. Trying to pry a 7580 4WD out from a neighbor that they have but have not run in the field for at least 10 years.

@@SilverGleaner I run my brothers 185, 8030, and 8070. My procedure seems to help regardless of which diesel I’m starting. Good luck with that 7580 purchase. Comfort the seller by telling them you will keep it forever and they can come and drive it anytime. Lol.

I've had this tractor for 20 years and it has been a great reliable tractor with just a couple cables replaced, a gauge, switches, and an injector line...... all just minor things like that. Has somewhere over 5000 hours on it and I think those hours are fairly accurate. I bought it just down the road from my place from the original owner back in 1997-98.

Starts about like my 7050, runs everyday on the tmr mixer. Plug it in and it fires right up. The hour meter didn't work when I got it and it says 9000 or so hours. Seat bushings are egg holed terrible so I imagine well over ten thousand. My 7040 fires right up down to twenty.
