I had one of these when I was a kid and it would run backwards when it started sometimes. It was crazy. I spent more time kicking it over than riding it. It looked like new when I got mine. This was back in 1980, when it did start and run right it was a blast.

Yes, you could push start most two strokes to run backwards.

@@lesliehorwinkle They fired so close to TDC. My '65 Matador did that at the top of s short incline and right as I topped to loft over a rock wall, it decided to go backwards and I went down that little hill backwards to land in a stream. Nearby helper and me laughed, could hardly believe what the little bugger did. It was a trophy winning ride in enduros though, most fun enduro bike ever.

nice 'taco...74 i believe was the first year they focused on frame geometry and really had a contender...they redesigned the fork tree to bring the fork tubes inline with frame...tacos before that loved long sweepers and flat track...if you tried turning with a CZ or Maico the front end would wash out after Pomeroys stint with Bultaco they really had a winner..i raced CZs then Maicos then but the Pursangs after the design change could run with anyone then

If the police would spot you, certainly a very high fine would be expected: no lights, no helmet, no plate, no blinkers... Spain is different, I´m afraid! The 74 never had a shift shaft on the left, the 121 model is rare and very few are raced but the ones that do eat Maicos for lunch, they are stone reliable. Properly set up they are the lightweight champion of the vintage open class. A Barnett clutch, Diamond primary chain and steel liners for the brakes and you can only lose due to rider ability. Just ask Guy Cooper. Its just a big 250 with a bite.
