For the younger crowd who may not know, Gilles Villeneuve went from racing snowmobiles to becoming a Formula 1 racing legend driving for Ferrari. He was one of the best F-1 drivers of all time and sadly lost his life on the race track in Belgium in 1982. R.I.P. Gilles.

Forever, Villeneuve will remain the most complete and absolute incarnation of a racing driver. ''Individuals like Gilles only come to earth once. He was truly unique and I would have liked to see what career he would have had without this accident. He would have been crowned world champion, I am 100% convinced of that.'' Mario Andretti.

I am blessed to see Gilles race on the awesome Alouette Super at Boonville in 1973. Great memories. Probably the baddest sled ever with that Sachs 650 screaming.

Saw him at Lancaster New Hampshire with the skiroules, won the 250-340 and 440 their first time out in late January 1976, Polaris race director bob eastman was in the stands and remarked how well they cornered, it always shocked me Polaris never signed him to drive and his ifs design after that. The 73 super, 74 twin track and the 76 ifs skiroules , all super competive low budget sleds,

Pat Rivard The sleds were thought to be lost to history , nobody had heard from them since 1976 or so. They are the holy Grail of racing snowmobiles, so it was with alot of excitement that one day last year a gentleman from Quebec posted pictures of his barn find discovery , it was two out of the three original Alloette twin track sleds , in unrestored condition. I remember in 1995 when Jacques won the first Indycar race of the year I looked for an article in the local paper (Winnipeg Free Press) and all I found about the Indycar race was a list of the finishers...however there was a half page photo of his uncle, Jacques Sr. coming in second at the races in Beausejour that weekend.
