This is the first video to document my son's 1975 Jeep project. His goal is to get it fixed up and usable by the time he is old enough to drive.

@scoutcrafter ...are you thinking what I'm thinking? Isn't it proper tool collector etiquette to give a small gift when the son becomes more cooler than the dad?

Good for him. An engine running that bad will kill the clutch quickly. As a mechanic back in those days, the best thing to do is warm the engine up and pour 1/2 pint of Marvel Mystery Oil down the carb. When it smokes like a Uniroyal stack shut it down for 3 days. Then start it up and blow out a bunch of crap. I've used that technique since 1967 and it has worked wonders by cleaning rings and valves. That Rambler straight 6 was a pretty good engine. If you don't have the work space inside, a shelter logic tent garage would be a good investment at this time. Cover it with a silver colored tarp to make it cooler for summer. Good Luck, Rick

@@richardross7219 The rolling chassis is in my shop. The body is in his shop. We have an engine stand ready, but we need to make a strong mounting point to attach the chain hoist to lift the engine. I am helping him here and there, but he is doing 95% of the actual work. It is his car, and if we waited for me o do the work, it would never get done! He is off from school for the summer and is too young to work, so this is his time! I told him to make the most of this summer, because it may be his best summer before starting to have more responsibilities and other stuff taking his time and attention.
