I've always thought that an Interstate in black was peak Brit bike cool matched with practicality- discs, electric start, isolastics and that gorgeous big long distance tank.

In about 1974 my brother had a 750 interstate, it had the big tank like yours and silencers that ran parallel to the ground. They were a slightly different shape. Rather quick too. He then got a new 850 with electric start in John Player colours. I've always lusted after a good one. Great video, enjoyed that. 👍

I have fond memories of having one in 1975 as a seventeen year old motorcycle salesman, short lived after I was seen dragging it up and down the seafront near me happydays. They were a revelation after all the Japanese stuff I was weaned on

Hey Pete! What a nice bike! I would have written: Ticks over really well. But yeah you spoiled it. 😂 Just kidding mate. It’s quite the machine but something you’d expect from a gearhead mechanic. Nothing less. This would tickle my dad endlessly if he was still around. He rode quite a few Britts and ended riding a beemer boxer. The bloody old geezer sold that last one to my nephew a year before I got my license….. Yes he did….. 😂 Oh well, mum gave me money so together with mum I bought my first, and he never knew….😂 So in the afterlife, we’re even. 😉

I'm lucky my dad is 84 and still riding , he has a Kawasaki W650 , he had to sell his British bikes as he could not start them anymore with is bad knee.

No this is a road I travel on most days riding to work . The road tests are around Framlingham.

Gorgeous Peter, those electronic Smiths clocks are interesting and make sense on the Commando. Keep the OG magnetic safely at home and use these instead, and they ought to register and have better feedback than Magnetics. Would love to own a Commando someday.

The original Speedo was OK but I have had the rev counter repaired once and the needle broke again so I went to the electronic ones.
