My father bought this exact car back in 1975. I was 16 years old. I went with him to the dealership to pick it up (sticker $7900.00) Same ext color, interior was also cranberry. The "R" on the door interior meant "Royale" edition. We had the Am/Fm stereo, the analog clock in the large rectangular space above the radio location, and an additional button next to the top up/down button for the rear defogger.. Yes, it was a real glass rear window in these cars. I got it as my first car after my dad was done with it.. I went through my senior year (and beyond) with this thing. We partied the hell out of it. It was the last production convertible for that era for olds (or maybe just Deltas, I dont remember).. Brings back a lot of memories. I also, bought my friends 1970 olds 442 (with auto and 455) in my senior year for 500 bucks. So I had two cars for a while. I ended up taking the engine out of the 442 and replacing the 350 in the delta with it. All used up after me, I sold it to my cousin, who destroyed even further. In good shape, those two cars could have netted me $100000 these days.. But who knew? Boy, we did party and have fun : )

Beautiful vehicle, one of a kind! The problem is, is if you drive this beautiful car then you devalue it! If you don't drive it then it just loses it's value!! Again beautiful car, but you don't dare to touch it, you could put it in a museum, or something like that if you had the money to just let the car sit around!! But it would make me feel bad just to even drive the car or even take the original tires off of it it's such a beautiful vehicle! Good luck on selling it bro awesome presentation thanks again

You don't see that every day. Beautiful and very stylish car of 1975. But can I ask: (it's incredible to me anyway,) but how/why someone would buy a car new and then put it into storage ? Very curious. Well, I guess that's up to Him really, but obviously, most people wouldn't do that. It wouldn't be very practical would it !? I would love to get behind that wheel. But that's a true time-warp car right there. What does she drive like compared to a modern car ?

It would normally not be practical, except if they thought the car was a collectable and they had spare money lying around. There was some buzz in the GM circles that had trickled into advertising about this car. It was to be the last year convertible for either the model or the whole line ( I cant quite remember). My dad bought this exact car at Peter Fuller Oldsmobile in Boston. I remember him and I (at the time 13 years old) driving home with the top down. The original bill of sail was $7900.00 ish. Ours did have a stereo with four speakers and, of course, the real glass rear window with defroster lines built in. I eventually had this car at high school age and slightly beyond. We partied our hearts out in that car (me and my buddies).. It, too, had the 350 with the tubo 350 trans. I learned later that it could have come with a 455. Im not sure if the 400 was also an option (as it had been in 73'). At the time, when everything was new, it drove very modern. As it was new, I remember my fathers comment on how it "hugged the road" . During my tenure, I replaced tires and suspension and brakes, always keeping it driving perfect. My only mistake was selling it to my cousin.. who destroyed it.

This is an old video but it just now shows up in my recommended list! I am a fan of these cars, especially the 1974 model. One thing I would question though. I am certain that the 1974 "Rocket 350" had gold colored valve covers and possibly oil pan as well but this one is blue. I see where you said the engine was re-sprayed so I am wondering if they used the wrong paint. That would totally ruin the authenticity of it. Can anyone else confirm if it had gold valve covers? My dad bought a 1974 model and I spent hours tinkering on it in high school back in the 80s so I know that engine bay well.

Life's short, what's 50 or 75 miles in the big picture? I wanted to see what it really felt like, to drive a brand new old car!

Was not this the last year for full-size GM cars (except Cadillac) to make a soft top? They say the top design on these cars are the worst! I talked to a local top guy here and he won't even work on them. These big GM cars 1971- 1976 are perhaps the last of the biggest cars built.

Great cars except all that pollution crap they added then affected those great engines. Every mid 70s car I had the system caused problems. Gorgeous car. Amazing miles! Very unsafe tires LOL

We would take the converter off then ram a pole right thru it and put it back on. Ran better after.

Where's the converter in the engine? I have this car and I'm having issues with the emission stuff. It's choking my carb and I've rebuilt the carb twice... I can't figure out what's choking it, so I'd like to try and bypass this stuff to see what it is.

This one is sold, but I do have another. It's a 1974 Indy Pace car edition Delta 88 Conv't, if you are interested. It's not as nice as this car, miles are over 100,000, but it's still a very nice car.
