That Fisk fellow knows what he is doing. Fantastic instrument. Very nice demonstration too! The stop tablets and their location is my favorite set-up because it is so easy to make changes on the fly without using pistons.

An absolutely magnificent 2-manual organ where every stop is beautiful in its own right and every stop contributes to a plenum which fills the building without becoming uncomfortably loud. The REEDS are warm and restrained but still do their jobs to perfection. On top of all that the case and console are, again, «restrained» but absolutely elegant like a Chanel suit! I'm not fond of stop TABS but in this case they're so elegantly done I'd «suffer» them just to have such a beautiful instrument. High kudos to FISK! Also... many thanks to Balint Karosi for his choice of OLD 124th as his demo piece and for demonstrating the beauty of the instrument so well.

Loved this demo! The kind of playing with the celeste and pedal cremona at 31:16 (and that you also put at the beginning of the video) isn't the sort of thing I expected to hear at this demo, but it was gorgeous!

An interesting organ in what appears to be a visually very pleasing modern space. Essentially a modern German romantic organ with a few baroque stops thrown in to add versatility. But by far the biggest success is the Kellner temperament, an extremely wise choice, beautiful sounding and so much more successful than some of the other so-called “Bach” temperaments. Suitable for all styles, keys and periods of music contrary to popular thought. Congratulations to whoever chose this tuning. If only it was used on the modern piano more often!
@bkarosi

That is an interesting perspective, I would say the other way around: a modern neo-Baroque/Orgelbewegung instrument with some Romantic stops to add versatility! 🙂The Fisk rebuilt with the added new 8' stops made is certainly more versatile!

Having seen the video you made after St. Peter's Church was flooded by the watermain break, how the solemn mood of that video contrasts with the glory of your presenting this Fisk rebuild of the Klais organ. Clearly everyone pitched in, determined not to let that disastrous flood put an end to St. Peter's mission as a Manhattan church. Balint, were you hired to be a consultant with Fisk on how the organ should be rebuilt? You must have been delighted when Fisk was chosen to rebuild and add its own pipework to this organ; the finished result is truly magnificent! I was hoping you would return to St. Peter's to give a demonstration - I've greatly enjoyed it.

I find it very interesting that Klais organs were quite popular in the USA for a while. It's a company from Germany. But I find it astonishing that these organs are not renewed by the same company. The new Klais generation also has a different sound philosophy than that of the 1970s.

Congratulations with your renovated and newly intonated organ. It now has an inspiring sound in many ways. Only the new principal 8 do not convince me yet. Balance between base tone and harmonics and a piece of unrest in the start of the tone, I think, needs still some attention.

Obviously the organ is well built and rebuilt but my personal opinion is that it is very scratchy and too hard high pitch. It needs more middle sounds more 8 foot ranks otherwise its very hard on the ears.

I visited the church in 1996, and found the organ case not only to be quite well-fitted to the church's architecture, congruent and harmonious with its environment, but also about the most interesting-looking thing in the room.
