Great old truck Do as much as you can with your Daddy and be grateful every day you have him, my daddy taught me all I know about mechanical pursuits on cars and trucks, lost him last October. His spirit lives on in constant repairs and upkeep of old cars and trucks. Present collection are two 94s, a K1500 Silverado long bed truck with a 350 and 238000 miles and a 94 Ciera at a mere 109000 miles. Take care, keep posting!

old chevys never die, they just fade till their rebuilt again.

Early 2000s I had a 76 GMC C1500 with 350 and I put on a remanufactured 600cfm Edelbrock carb which really woke that old engine up. It was my daily driver until I decided to upgrade to a 91 R2500 Suburban with TBI 454. I miss the old square bodies, but still in a 2006 Silverado with 5.3L.

The engines and transmissions in old Chevy's never quit. The rocker panels, cab corners and bed sides always rusted out fast

My first Chevy truck was a '69. Loved that truck. Broken starter tabs. Ouch. Second Chevy truck was a '77 3/4 ton with a s/b 350/4 bolt main. Would still have it but I had issues. Great video.

Cordova Brown and Neutral. Just like my 79 K10. When I bought mine about a year and a half ago I was also surprised to see that it was absolutely unmolested and original. Seems like 95% of the ones you see anymore have headers and an edelbrock carb.

Mine is a 1976 that sat for 31 years, had to do the same with the fuel lines as they were junk, also had to replace the rear brake line junction after it had sat so long.

Now for a viton mechanical fuel pump (ACDelco makes all OEM mechanical fuel pump replacements with Viton, so I've read, to make sure you don't have constant pump failures from ethanol wear) and water pump, and you're set.

Cool video, you got a good start with that rig, too bad it doesnt have 3/4 rears but still a great find. 77 and 78 are my favorite years for this style chevy. The double oo 10 block is a four bolt main 350. the number is cast on top of the block in the rear where the bell meets the block. I have had some of these motors that were awesome.

the best "teacher" is your dad,my father inspired me to go to tech school in the 80s and i love gettin grease on my hands,the only problem with gmc and chevy's back in the day was general motors used cheap metal and depending where you lived the elements took a toll on the body parts and that's why they rust out quick

Like the video,this is a interesting swap, I think that the 77 has a NP203 new process transfer case(by looking at the front hubs or lack of them) that is a full time 4X4, the power goes to both front and differentials at the same time,it will roll away in park if you unlock a hub so you will have to keep you front hubs locked in. They sell kits to make them part time but that stops the lubricant from getting to the top of the transfer case because the chain stops turning

Another "trick" for getting more air with those old SBC's is to flip the lid on the air cleaner. This opens a small gap around the air filter housing which feeds more air into the carb. I'm sure your dad knows that one.

The GVWR will indicate what it is/was originally. GM offered different versions of the c/k 20's - below 8600 GVWR w/catalytic converter & unleaded fuel required, and above 8600 GVWR no catalytic converter & no fuel inlet restrictor - allowing it to run on regular leaded gas. The one-ton c/k 30's started at 9200 GVWR.

Thanks for reminding me how much I hated Quadra jet carburetor's....I had the same option your truck had in a 75 was lucky to get 12 mpg. 67-72 were much better trucks in my opinion
