1977 Chevy LUV SLEEPER

Күн бұрынIn this episode, we do a walk around and detailed description of my 1977 Chevrolet LUV that I have owned for nearly 14 years. Not only was this truck given to me by my grandfather, but it was also the first motor swap that I had done from scratch. Although you will see me working on a lot of 50s and 60s hotrods and custom classic trucks I'll always have mini trucking roots! While not your typical swap the VORTEC 4.3 V6 has plenty of power and maintains a weight balance to make this truck fun to drive.

Wow, sweet little pickup. Love - sorry - LUV it when guys use that 4.3 in vehicles like this. It's a reliable and fairly stout little mill.

Thank you! It's an underrated engine that's peppy and still gets over 20+mgp in a light vehicle with a good gear ratio!

I wish you could still find them! I've had several requests to replicate this truck for customers but it's so hard to find a decent truck to start with!

My first vehicle was a 79 Luv 4x4. Would love to get one and engine swap but here in the California I will need to get a 75 so I dont worry about SMOG or OEM laws.

@@BestDamnShopAround Finding a pre 75 is a bit harder but all I need it for is the title. then find a 79 or 80 donor and then an S10. but where will I put all other them?!? 😉 Thanks for the encouragement. I may need help wiring it.

The guy that grew up 3 houses from me has a LUV and is putting a Vortec V6 in it also, His is from a mid-late 90's S-10 Blazer/Jimmy though. He's going to do a complete redo of his LUV though, new paint, bucket seats and all that.

I've seen one 4x4 I think with a 4.3.anorher one with a 305 with 488 gears.

Well tim if you did more research a v8 vortec would have fit and yes I know its a direct fit i have a 74 luv with a 350 vortec 700r4 transmission and moves way better and sounds extremely aggressive with my stacks especially in a tunnel and hooks up everytime no spinning so could have went bigger and still make it fit under the hood

They're actually the original ones! The truck originally had full faced caps, I found these dog dishes off a 75 luv, then paint matched the wheels to the caps!
