I will always prefer Michael playing his link over all the other mouthpieces he played on thereafter. I imagine he had to work harder on it but he was able to produce ALL of the tone colors with all the power he needed and it was never too bright while all the while retaining a thick core to the sound. Love this recording and so glad a high quality video exits of it. Thank you for posting this.

It must be commented on how super-tight/locked in and melodic responsive the pianist is, playing duo. His playing seems to have a nice creative impact on Brecker's playing. Not many of the other Brecker accompanists match this(?)

Yeah, great listening from both players. Great patience. The pianist would follow Mike anywhere. He doesn’t push him at all, he’s following Mike all the way. They’re very well connected. This really fantastic, beautiful performance.

One of two of my absolute favorite standards (including 'On Green Dolphin St....w/ N.Washington) composed by the great Bronislaw Kapers. Thanks for this. First time hearing Mike's rendition. What a loss, (r.i.p., Breck)

Amazing, thank you! His tone on the link is so beautiful! Some haters who say that his tone was pretty much product of mics, electronics and post-process must hear this here. He told that he had to switch to custom Guardala and softer reeds because he had a neck injury and throat surgery. But not really much difference, he always sounded like himself!

@mattsax_music84392 жыл бұрын
Interesting fact Brecker started using guardalas after he had surgery because he couldn’t put as much air into the horn so he had his guardala made. So I’ve heard at least.
