About his acting skills or him as a person you can say whatever you want, but with Rambo and Rocky he has created two legendary characters, which definitely have their place in film history. P.S.: As a couple of you guys pointed out (a few even hating and badly triggered...relax, dudes!) is Rambo based on a book. Technically yes, but the Rambo of the book has almost nothing to do with the charakter of the script that Sylvester Stallone helped adapting for the movie. The Rambo from the novel didn't even have a first name. Sly was the one who gave Rambo a face, a voice and also principles and empathy, since he was the one who insisted, differently from the book, that Rambo wouldn't directly kill police officers nor anyone else who was hunting him, but just try to incapacitate them to keep following him. Last but not least, that's probably the most important difference, he didn't die.

@Paul Ridgeway I went with the extremes of his acting. He's a capable dramatic actor, he just chose roles in which he was the action hero a lot. But, he doesn't act like Rocky with different names. Dwayne Johnson tends to be Dwayne Johnson in all his roles. Many action stars are like that. Between Cliffhanger, Daylight, Oscar, Tango and Cash, Demolition Man, Stop or my mom will shoot, etc., he has some range in different genres. He isn't Gary Oldman, but he isn't a one trick pony. That was my point.
