Welp not "Everything" per se. When you read the story it gets pretty twisted on that last line when you search that Speicher roughly translates to memory and that the narrator states that his memory is hazy. My interpretation is that the narrator went in denial and buried his memory on what really happened which is probably them murdering michael only to be forgotten on the back of his mind with the lock "Speicher" welp dunno might be wrong but thats just my 2 cents lol

The guilt the narrator feels is disproportionate to his actions and the event as stated. Had Michael committed suicide, it would have made sense, since the narrator took part in driving him to it. However the kid was murdered brutally. Despite this, the narrator expresses no horror or mystery about who the murderer was or the fact that a murder took place at the scout camp, which is unusual. Instead he only feels a sense of deep (even suicidal) remorse. Why? What seems likely is the mess tin fetchquest wasn’t the prank (a lame prank at that), but just a ruse to lure Michael where the narrator and unknown numbers (perhaps all) of other kids beat him up, so brutally he died (perhaps accidentally). The narrators overwhelming guilt is for having participated in a murder and cover up. “Speicher” means memory, specifically the repressed memory of the crime.

That seems so much more likely. I was so confused. Seeing how I kept thinking about how ragged, creepy and worn the bear was, my head was eluding to the paranormal. As in, since the bear was damaged, and was perhaps possessed, it took revenge on Michael when he was finally alone with him. Why would the teddy bear head be bloody? Why did he panick when the bear was destroyed? Why was he so disheveled and pale/underweight? Was it because of the long term possession of him or the bear? But those are my only clues to think it was paranormal. Also, how did they not notice any blood or evidence, like the floorboard, when all the campers in Blue Ridge had to retrieve their items from the cabin before leaving? Did the police/camp not thoroughly search through the place? Seems like he would have been noticed far earlier. I don't know. I'm thinking on this too much at 5 AM LOL

@@VictorRobotov00 that's my question. It seemed so out of place if this was a bunch of 10 year olds beating another kid to death accidentally or on purpose. I just don't see it plausible for those kids to murder the kid, find a hiding place (floorboard), put him in there with his stuffed animal and plates that they would have needed to use for another week or more, write the mysterious note, stuff it in the bear's head, reseal it, clean up the mess (because he says there's a lot of blood), maybe change, then get back to the mess hall in less than an hour. I mean... I don't know. That's why I thought supernatural culprit.

If you didn't understand the ending, please read! It might help you. Here's my take on the story. Michael was beaten up and killed by the narrator and his friends, and then they hid his body under the floorboards. The narrator said at the beginning that he had a very foggy memory (possibly due to a disorder of some kind), and he also admitted feeling extremely guilty and bad about the incident. The narrator himself shouldn't be too guilty because he wasn't the one who killed Michael... or was he? "Spiecher" translated to "memory" in another language (I think German). The note could have been one of two things: A: an effort on the character's part to try and jog his memory for the future, or B: a figment of the narrator's foggy memory that was a way of indicating that somewhere deep down, he still sort of remembered that he was the one who was responsible for Michael's death. So it was likely that the narrator and his friends followed Michael to the cabin and killed him, but the character didn't remember due to his foggy memory/memory disorder. The only hints that the narrator still had a sliver of recognition were the note that literally said "memory", along with his misplaced feelings of guilt years later.

The note literally translates to "storage". It's a false friend for you as the memory of a computer is called "Speicher". As in "Data Storage". The german word for memory is "Erinnerung" or "Gedächtnis" could work too. Though, I guess the author just made the same mistake translating it.
@ftfthirdeye8084
@ftfthirdeye8084 5 жыл бұрын
There’s a thing in psychology called repressed memory. It’s not a disorder. However there’s is also a thing called false memory (aka a made up memory). Ironically both of them have been proven to exist. The whole story wouldn’t surprise me if as a group they killed michael or had an unfortunate accident bullying him and then they tried to cover it up(group mentality causes ppl to sometimes due evil things like look at the famous Stamford prison experiment, wardens were fairly cruel and got carried away with wanting yo belong to the role they were given). Either way the trauma of the whole situation and guilt is definitely enough, especially in a kid, to bring on repressed memories. Explains why the narrator had been seeing psychiatrists and stuff.

Saw an interesting explanation of the story in a comment. *Edit: commenter Heather Ions explains it better than me down in under my replies* Apparently the author has a very foggy memory yet can tell the everything in great detail. It seems like that they beat and killed Micheal to death (or at least the author witnessed it) and the note translates to “memory”. This all comes together as if the author twisted his own memory to something more innocent when in fact he far more directly responsible of Michaels death. The memory note is his brain trying to tell him the truth but him refusing to understand it. With time gaps of the kids doing nothing for several minutes “waiting” on Michael, this would of been more than enough time to beat him to death.

My questions... Why would they write a note saying speicher and put It in the bear in the first place? And nothing was said about their language and what not. Doesn't make sense. And they'd need their items for food for the rest of the stay, why put them there? And these 10 yo's somehow also knew about the loose floor boards and had the capability of cleaning a LOT pick blood and hiding bloody clothing among everything else? Within an hour? Negative. The counselors were I'm assuming at the mess hall with the children as they're the ones who asked where he was. Just off to me. Absolutely wonderful theory, but there are holes that don't make sense.
@Captain_Idaho
@Captain_Idaho 5 жыл бұрын
It could still work as the important thing to remember is the narrator isn't reliable if this theory is correct. As such, how can we believe that the timeframe or else wouldn't have worked. We know they were unsupervised in the huts. We don't even know if there WAS a lack of blood etc. The Scout Master and staff looked for this poor kid and then the police were called and parents immediately took their children home. Odds are if that's true then they all believed the kids did it immediately which points to blood etc.

Sarah Morton There was never a note left in the bear. In fact, there was probably never a bear. It was conjured up in his imagination as his brain tried to process the psychological weight of what had happened. The word in the note has a duel meaning that translates to memory or storage. This symbolises him compartmentalising and repressing the memory of what happened. It didn’t exist. As for the bear, notice how it is described as “a sickly looking creature; obviously enduring many years of abuse and quite frail.” This is not how one would describe a teddy bear, even if it was tattered and torn. It is describing Michael. While Michael may well have had a teddy that he was ridiculed for, the narrator has transferred a great deal of what had happened onto this object. That bludgeoning didn’t happen in the lunch break...it happened the night before. The children bludgeoned Michael to death with their lunch tins and hid him (along with all evidence) beneath the floorboards, before the supervisors could return. The final blow which killed him was delivered by the narrator (but transferred to the decapitation of the bear). The narrator’s brilliant plan that he ran by the other bullies was to tell the supervisors, when his absence was noticed at lunch time, that Michael had momentarily joined them for lunch but then returned to the cabin to get their lunch tins. This never happened. It was an alibi to explain why Michael and the lunch tins had disappeared. Michael never joined them in the lunch room, but the narrator’s deluded memory has convinced him that this fabrication truly happened. In reality, Michael had been dead beneath the floorboards from the night before. The conversation in the lunch room has been conjured by the narrator to fill in the gaps of his own selective memory. Later in the story, we learn of a phone call where his mum informs someone that she will not let him near the house. This tells us that his family know he is a danger. It tells us that he was known to have been involved and it’s likely he was questioned by police and subject to investigation (all of which is repressed). The narrator also mentions that the camp is still a camp at the beginning, but at the end tells us that it’s a mental hospital. This is presumably because he has conflated the time spent at this camp with time spent in a mental hospital. Also, the cabin is named “Blue Ridge”. Blue Ridge is a well known institution that deals with mental health and behavioural problems. That leads me to believe it wasn’t a regular scout camp, but one specifically designed for troubled kids. Either that or he was sent to a Blue Ridge mental institution after the attack. It's not very clear. It seems significant that it was set in the 1970s as, compared to now, child safeguarding wasn’t that great, even in child-centred organisations, and this lax attitude to child welfare could often lead to poor supervision. This would have allowed them to be unsupervised for a long period of time.

Holy shit. There is an old boy scout camp in Boswell at Roaring Run. It's called Outdoor Odyssey, run by the general mentioned in the story, and they actually do pretty great community service work nowadays. I heard this story many times and always assumed it was just camp lore, but there's some unsettling shit like the floors in Blue Ridge (still named that btw) are newer than any of the other cabins I stayed in. I attended as a mentor twice, three weeks in total. I spent two in Blue Ridge and had weird episodes of sleepwalking, I'd be convinced almost every night that I had to leave and would walk around the cabin asking for a flashlight until I snapped out of it. Another kid named Keegan also sleepwalked, but only in Blue Ridge. Spiker is also camp lore, a civil war soldier buried on the premises. He has a headstone in the woods and the counselors take the mentors out there during training week to scare them. There's also a light near the lake called spikers light which will randomly turn on and off. Electricians have been called and can never find anything wrong with it. Scary shit and super weird seeing this on a creepypasta channel.

for those who are wondering, hes saying the word "Speicher" which (I believe is German) could mean either storage/memory. Thanks for narrating such a good story
@jaggirl
@jaggirl 5 жыл бұрын
Can you explain more? Maybe not, cause you Googled it..lol Means a storage room in an attic. In a computer sense it relates to memory. Which is why I can see how storage/ memory relate to each other. But I can't see how memory (computer related) context fits in this case. Storage room makes more sense. You and others that posted simply " Storage/Memory, really need to do a bit more research on the meanings of words they post. As it is it made no sense at all. That way you will get a better understanding of what you are actually Googling and posting. Did you not stop to think how those 2 words related to the story? No..... Kids!!! Lol. 😁
@Alto02
@Alto02 5 жыл бұрын
Jag Girl I actually didn’t google it, but you did. I used to learn german before i stopped, and i must’ve remembered what the word meant wrongly. And, i can tell you googled it, since the first thing that pops up on google is (regional) storage room in the attic (computing) memory

CroxzOfficial - wow thanks. But why German, I wonder? I just seems out of context. It’s a great set up for a sequel but given that it’s being told now about events in 1978, I’m guessing there isn’t one. Thanks for the info.

There is a Roaring Run Resort in Champion, PA, that was a Boy Scout Camp called Camp Aliquippa from 1927 to 1974 and was one of the original camps created by the organization in the state. It became a membership based campground following the Boy Scouts departure and continues to be today. Outdoor Odyssey in Bosewell is located on Boy Scout Rd and founded by Major General T.S. Jones. Both are in the same part of PA.

Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.
